IPhone vs. Blackberry 8320 vs. Moto Q9h....help!

So tomorrow I am switching to AT&T from VZW and need help on choosing from one of these three phones. I was set on the bb curve titanium, but after reading up a lot today I've come to a standstill. I also did not really consider the Iphone at all because of the lack of some basic features. But now through hacking and 3rd party apps, the Iphone is quickly catching up (finally able to send SMS to multiple people and forward old SMS, GPS and video recording to name a few). I'm a big messenger and wi-fi is necessary, and seeing as the Q can access wi-fi via a miniSD card, they all seem to be on the same level here except for the Curve's keyboard being superior. Something I also like to take into consideration when choosing a phone is the speaker-phone quality and the phone's RF, which I really am uninformed about.

So, anyone who could offer some insight into helping me choose one of these phones, it would be much appreciated.

For anything volume (without a headset) or RF, the iPhone falls last on the list. I have the iPhone and these short-comings, I can live with. Do you email a lot? Do you mind using a headset or bluetooth?

I like both the Curve and the iPhone. The Moto, I really dislike this difference. Not only is it Motorola, but the device is huge and the keyboard isn't too good (when compared to the Curve.) Where I live RF isn't a problem for me and this is why I'm happy with the iPhone. Go into the store and play with the devices and see which one you wouldn't mind holding for two years (if you keep phones that long)

I have owned all 3 of the phones you are considering. I rate them in the following order. iPhone, Moto Q9h Global, BB Curve 8320. The iPhone has by far the best UI and media capabilities. I find it strange that people mention the Q9 has an inferior keyboard when it has one of the, if not thee best keyboard of any phone in it's class. The extra wide form factor makes for large keys and a very spacious layout. It is a great device besides one fault, the screen develops dust underneath it just like the original vzw Q. The iPhone is also a very high maintenance phone and can be smudged and damaged very easily, other than that it is a great device. The BB holds up the best but is the least interesting of the three with an aging interface but great push email.

I've used the curve's, e62, 8125, and Q9h's keyboard and Q9h had by far the best buttons. The e62 probably has the best ergonomics from key function standpoint, the curve's keyboard was pretty nice too. Ergonomically the Q9h may not have been the best, but I hadn't really used it much so I don't really know. The 8125's keyboard layout isn't great either, its too wide, little button play, and i hate how the numbers are spread across the top row.

PS. I like my e62's keyboard a lot.

Is the iPhone really that bad in terms of RF? I didn't think Apple released any information about it's RF. I know Moto's RF is always good, which is a reason I've always liked them. Part of the reason why I ask this is because the house I am moving into is not in a great service area. However, I know my friend does get some minimal service there with his iPhone..

And honestly, I can't really judge whether or not it will be good enough for you as you would have to try it out first. I would suggest to purchase all three in the new area. I do get a share of dropped calls with the iPhone. Also a way I measure the RF is by staying on the phone with my g/f through a highway near my 2nd job that has a deadspot. Now all the phones I've owned have dropped in that area, but those same phones sometimes retain a signal and I stay connected. The iPhone has not gone through without dropping the call. This is not to say that the iPhone's RF is bad, but that it isn't the best. Moto, although I'm not a fan has great RF, Nokia comes first in that department. Like DukeL said, the UI and media capabilities are awersome.
Honestly, I will never go back to another UI unless it's similar if not better than the iPhone's. Going through goggle maps, to dialing a number could not get any easier. Listening to the iPod while surfing is great. I know other phones can do this, but not with the ease that I get with the iPhone. I'm not even an Apple fan, but I give credit when it's due.

its really about what you need. I have owned all 3 phones and all have their advantages and disadvantages. curve: great for email and thats about it Moto q: great because of 3g and the BEST keyboard ever on a cell phone but the screen is so small and scroll would have have made things more easier and smoother. The iPhone: great interface and it looks dam sexy but lack 3g...

I currently own the Q9 and the curve and it all comes down to what you're looking for the most. I love the shape of the curve and the keyboard and although its UI is aging, doing everything is just so simple, of course it lacks some of the flash the Q9 has.

The Q9 uses WM 6, so not much to say there except it takes a lot more clicks to do a simple thing. Both phones feel very durable and great quality and I haven't had dust under the screen in either device so far. the speakerphone which is of great importance to me is the best in the Q9 by far. Dual speakers with more than enough base and extremely loud volume, which is what a phone supposed to be.

And btw, ATT doesn't have the wifi enabled 8320, thats Tmo. ATT has the 8310 variant which is GPS enabled, so unless you plan to get an unlocked Tmo 8320, you won't get a curve with wifi.

I currently own all 3 devices you mentioned (iphone/Moto Q9/BB Curve 8320 with wifi). My Q9 Global and Curve 8320 are both unlocked and I have both Tmobile and ATT.

To tell you the truth I like all 3 of these. If you are purchasing an iphone, since you are entering into a 2 year contract, it is to your advantage to buy a "subsidized" phone first and than buy an iphone.

My personal likes:

iPhone (internet browser is the BEST in mobile phone, hands down, UI, screen size, multimedia capability).

BB Curve (I use it primarily on Tmobile's UMA network (FREE incoming/outgoing calls with a hotspot@home plan) with any Wi-fi signal (great technology)....although UMA has been sucking big time recently since their data center got flooded).
BB Curve, great reception, great for push email, speaker phone is the SECOND best, just a tad below the Motorola Q9, wi-fi browsing is fast...especially if you do not subscribe to a BB Data plan...it's confusing but if you have a BB Data plan, everything is sent through Blackberry's server and they compress all the data so Wi-Fi browsing is much slower if you have a data plan as opposed to not having a data plan.

Motorola Q9 Global: Great RF, probably the best RF smartphone/regular phone. Big wide keyboard. My fingers do not feel cramped as opposed to the Curve. 3G is Fast. You can even tether using your laptop. I get download speeds close to 1mbps with 3G. Speaker Phone is the BEST/Loudest of any device in the market. No other phone is even close. It also has GPS and it works awesome with Microsoft Live Search (some people have had problems with GPS, but mine works great).

So if I were you and assuming you go with ATT, I would buy an iPhone and than buy the Motorola Q 9 as your subsized phone. The real advantage of the BB 8320 is Wi-fi/UMA. Since you are not on Tmobile's network, you will not realize the full potential of the phone.

As for getting a microSD Wi-Fi for the Q, there a lot of confusion. There is a MINI-SD Wi-Fi card that is supported by Verizon's Q9M. But I do not think there are microSD Wi-FI cards that are supported by the Q9 Global.

Just to add to aneftp's great review, you can buy the subsidized phone @ anytime. It can be before or after the iPhone. I purchased an iPhone on my 3rd line and honest to god, I've actually upgraded four times with it, 2 pearls (1 red, 1 black) and then two BJ IIs (1 wine, 1 black.) It may actually be in your best interest to purchase the subsidized phone after.
