I've had a TyTN and now a Touch -- but I'm longing for a flip phone -- an update to the 8500. I have this crazy notion that closing the phone would protect the screen far better than a plastic screen protector. Early in the year there were rumows about the Erato, but that seems to have died on the vine. Think I'm going to be disappointed.

Unfortuanately, I think you are right. I just read a comment by Palm's CEO regarding their new direction that one of the things they found from asking consumers/users was that not many were interested in a smartphone in a flip phone format.

That's too bad. The early treos had a hard cover that could flip over the screen and protect the keys. It had a plastic window that still allowed you to see the screen.
