Maybe this is a dumb question and maybe someone's already tried it. I've searched the forums and dont see any mention of it but i was wanting to know if it's possible to put the 8Gb screen on the 95-3. If so would would someone have to get a whole new slider mechanism along w/ the face/buttons?

also what are some other N95 modding forums?

Thanks all

Ive been asking the same thing but on different N95 forums and no one seems to have an answer yet. I may just order the parts myself and try it. From what I can tell you would need the back cover, (it is slightly different) the slider mechanism, the keypads, the front cover, and the screen. The only thing holding me back is if the contact pad for the front control keypad is different.. I havent seen any pictures of it that I can compare to and Im almost ppositive it is different because the N95-8GB front keypad is longer from side to side and shorter from top to bottom.
plus I havent found a source for the contact pad yet either. Do a little research, if you can find the contact pad, let me know and I will give it a try.

by contact pad you mean what exactly? sorry i guess i'm not familiar w/ all the mobile lingo

i've found a screen on ebay for the 8GB that was around $75 (or 35 quid in the UK i believe it was)

I'm sure all the other parts should be fairly easy to come by...or maybe not especially if one is trying to find genuine Nokia stuff.

I'll poke around and see what i can find.

The contact pad under the directional keys beneath the display. Ive found all the other parts I need except that particular one.

http://www.howardforums.com/search.php?

it's a great tool....

the N95 8GB w/ NA 3G bands is coming in Feb.

even if it wasn't, why would you take apart a phone that costs more than most desktops...??

did a search, couldnt find it.. that's why i posted.

i dont want to buy another phone, plus i like having micro SD slot.

i take things apart because i can...and because it's fun... and because it's easy.

Actually, I couldnt find all the parts in one place. Some on ebay, blueunplugged and cnn were some of the places. The ones on ebay actually wanted more for thier parts than on some of the websites I found.

And its like you said, I also like having a micro sd slot. plus we already paid for the phone.. Why should I take a huge loss and try to sell it to buy a N95 8GB when I can just build what I want.

I agree. I'm shopping for a N-95 8GB but really want a black N-95 with an SD slot and the bigger screen. As cheap as flash memory is I really don't like the idea of being stuck with a finite amount of storage instead of being able to pop in a new card.
