It's OEM

Check mine.

Do you think this one is an OEM faceplate?

it's hard to tell, they make duplicates pretty real these days.
but your keypad id different than mine, I heard real oem white keypads should have asian character storkes on it.

Posted by: jlin615

One thing that questions me is that my whole housing is light greyish-white. but looking at a angle, the backcover seems like is at a darker shade than the faceplate.

What y'all think? OEM??

Posted by: jlin615

The inside

Posted by: jlin615

By the way, I bought the faceplate-set from Lovemoments on eBay.

Your cover is OEM.

Mine is a fake one.
So is the keypad. But the original Nokia keypads don't have these asian characters. Although, not in Europe...

I hope to receive my Dark faceplate soon + all blue keypad. Both original Nokia.
I'll post some pics when I have them.

how easily does the 8390 cover fit on a 6590i?

just wondering

jeff

Posted by: jlin615

It was fairly easy! Being the perfectionist I am, it took me a little longer than other people.

Just use a exacto knife or any small sharp blade. trim the top two tabs COMPLETELY off (or else wont fit perfectly)

Your 6590 looks nice!

So it's not as hard as I thought to put an 8390 faceplate on a 6590...

Posted by: jlin615

Thanks!

Now after i got this face, I love my phone so much than before. I having a hard time keep in it clean and scratch-free everyday.

Posted by: jlin615

Great! As I was cleaning behind the screen today, the complete center bezel piece came apart. I tried to put it together with super glue, it made a mess over the screen!!!!

REST IN PEACE...

2 bad.

But try a Dark. I Think it looks much better than a Chrystal White one.

I think 8390/8310's white LED looks ok with dark colors or light colors. But personally, I think 6590/6510's blue light match nicer with light color faceplates, because I like that clean look.

I can tell the faceplate isnt on all the way....... I can see in your picture....
Thats why i have stayed away from 8390 faceplate on 6590....

There is a little space between the phone and the faceplate on the top......

Compare it when u stick a OEM 6590 faceplate on the phone and u will see the difference.
Im sure your phone has some creeking too when u squeeze it?

It looks cool and all.... but its not perfect!

tyronewheatley
you are 100% right! there's creeking and the tiny gap on top

Thats why you shouldn't have trimmmed the tabs off completely. I tried that once too and it doesn't hold on at the top at all. The second time I tried I did the other method where you trim like half the tabs off and trim a little of the inside tabs on the phone. It fits perfectly this way!

That's absolutely true.

But except for that it sure is a nice cover besides my 6510-cover.

I plan to get a 6590i. Where can I get 6590i OEM faceplates. I am in the SF bay area. I can also order through the web.

Hey, I just ordered the white faceplate and keypad off of them too! Mine will be for my 8390, but now I see it will look cooler than I thought! How long did it take for you to recieve them?

Posted by: jlin615

It took a long time, 10 business days (about 2 full weeks)

What pieces to you have cut off the OEM 8390 faceplate for it to work on the 6590? Could someone post pictures of what you have to cut off of the faceplate.

Check http://www.8310-6510.tk/

Posted by: tyronewheatley

don't follow those instructions. Thats how you get a faceplat that doesnt fit all the way just like in the picture...

I know gnosis did it somewhere on this board with pictures.... Ask gnosis or use search. You have to cut like half of the tab vertically i believe and also a bit off the 6590...

But it looks perfect if dont correctly.

Hi all,
I know this may sound so silly, but what's OEM stand for?
I'm curious, because I've just recently got a new 6590i and I'm tempted to change the faceplate.

Phew, my very first post in this forum

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacture (I think)
