Selecting contacts for TXT MSGing

Just curious if anyone knows if there's a different way to select multiple contacts for txt messaging instead of choosing one by one through the contacts screen. Is there a way we can go down the screen and select each one before editing your text? I know my old Moto RAZR allowed me to put a checkmark on each contact before I start to edit the txt message for sending. Thanks in advance.
