I just got this phone and I like it alot. I just need help with 2 things. One, can someone tell me how to assign "voice command" names to my contacts. I have tried several ways but to no avail. Two, I would like to add ringtones but cannot get them to save as ringtones when I e-mail them to my phone at my#@vzwpix.com , they will only save as "sounds" which cannot be used as ringtones. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

As to voice command names it's just the name you set in the phone book as far as I know.

As to the RingTones I send .wav or .qcp files to the phone#@vzwpix.com or go to VZW site and send them. Much faster from VZW site or other phone then email...
I have SW version V9210M04 maybe thats the difference? It gives me both options for save as ringtone and save as sound. I know the type V does not allow this for some reason but the S does at least mine does... Just got it a week ago.

Thanks for the help. I also found that you can download mp3 ringtones and when you save them to your computer you change the suffix of the file to .mid. This will allow the phone to download them and give you the option to save them as a ringtone. For some reason if you leave them as an mp3 file they will not send. Hope this helps someone. I use the mytinyphone.com site to get the ringtones. Easy to use plus you can make your own ringtones from mp3 files that you upload and it's all free.

You are most welcome, It seems like most people don't buy these phones or something because I tried to post for assistance on the type V a while back and no one replied so im moving on to my S, not quite the same but at least seems reliable, I do not know if you use Mobile Web but there is a bug in the S/V and is fixed in a software update for the S but not the V where after viewing multiple pages it gives server not responding or call CS *611 so just wanted to pass that along if you use it or not just fyi. The version V9210M04 is the latest that I know of and works fine so far.

I recently purchased a g'zone type s with sw ver. V9210P15, and it seems not to accept ringtones (.mid or mp3) added via bitpim (over bluetooth) or via vzwpix.com. FWIW, this is the non-camera version. Bitpim is able to view the filesystem over BT just fine.

Anyone experience this? Anybody have a way around it?

How did you get bitpim to recognize the phone over BT? I am trying right now and cannot figure it out. Is there a special driver needed?

sounds like this 15 software version disabled the ability to save ringtones via pix message. I just got a type s and it has the 12 firmware. is there any reason why i would want to upgrade the firmware? i havnt found out any bugs with this other then after i send a text like 3 seconds after the backlight goes off it randomly comes back on then turns off....which isnt a big deal at all.

If there is a P version firmware it is probably because the phone lacks the camera. I have the black type-s, non-ptt with the camera and the latest firmware right as of Feb 2008 is V9210M04.
