I'm still lost, how do i unlock the palm centro? I tried talking to palm and sprint and they're both clueless, someone at sprint suggested that the unlock code would be the zip code that the phone was shipped to or the phone's number but how do I enter it? is there some sort of code i have to enter into the phone first to get it to let me enter the unlock code?

thanks so much, as I've said, i've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out. My dad was being ignorant and bought a locked phone on accident, but we don't even live in an area where there is sprint so I don't see why it shouldn't just be unlocked.

You should try a Hard Reset. You can find instructions for this on Palm's support website at palm.com.

This will erase any personal lock or security codes, along with any personal data stored on the phone.

You cannot buy an unlocked phone from Sprint, and the Centro is a Sprint Exclusive right now. You might be able to use the phone on Verizon, but I am not sure about that.

ok well I eventually got sprint to give me the unlock codes and the people at my local provider were able to put them in.

After spending more time on the phone, I decided to just act as if I wanted to activate the phone and get service from sprint. I gave them my details and since I live in guam they couldn't activate the phone and so gave up and gave me the codes.

Moral of the story: pretend you live somewhere that they can't provide service to and they'll give you the codes.
