got a bricked phone from a guy, cant jailbreak

hi all, i got a bricked out iphone, he said he was going to upgrade to 1.1.1 and tried virinizing it and just ended up with the black screen, yellow triangle that says connect to itunes.

i was able to restore it back to 1.0.2 but thats as far as i can get, ibrikr wont jailbrake it, CARNAVAL wont work.

how do i revirginize it if i cant get past the activation screen??

im not sure what walkthrough is for me.

first off, are you on a mac or pc ?

pc windows xp.

ive activated, jailbreaked, unlocked both my 1.0.2 and my wifes 1.1.1 without a hitch, but this is hard since i dont really know why its like this.

i got the activate screen, and can add contacts, add urls, but CARNAVAL wont jailbreak. so im stumped.

can you download a program to put it in DFU mode?

I'm on a mac, so I don't know if you can download iNdependence or not? but i guess one of my friends said putting his in DFU mode and then restoring it worked when it bricked, so i suppose that would be worth a try.

iTunes won't even restore it?

Have you tried iDemocracy 2.0 or using the jailbreakme.com site?

iDemocracy is bound to work. I think it's the best 1.1.1/1.0.2 unlock method out there. Plus, it's super easy to use.

i actually got it to restore to 1.1.1, then i used carnaval to jailbreak and it worked. it is now unlcoked and iphone number 3 for me. gonna use this one as a backup

can any one help? got an iphone 1.1.1 unlocked and all apps work but i cant use the phone function? when i insert my sim it does not read the att carrier or tmobile carrier can anyone help

put your sim in, then run anysim from the installer again, it should make sure its unlocked, if it says it worked then try agian, if not.. i'd restore and go again.
