Looking to renew my service and thus, I get to buy a new phone. Have the iPhone on the short list, but lack of 3G kinda sucks. I know the rumors of a 3G iPhone for AT&T has been running wild around these parts.

Any concrete info on this? A proximate date would be cool. I am willing to wait for it, but if it is a March or later, I'll look at something else...

Again, searched, but nothing that really helps...

The 3G iPhone will come out within the next 6 months.

If the phone hasn't come out in that time, please re-read the above sentence for an updated time frame.

Ummm...unless you consider a rumor that the "AT&T CEO" mentioned something about it "at a country club" and that it would be "somewhere in 1Q 2008" as "concrete info", you're not gonna find anything else.

In short: you'll know when Apple releases an official press release. If ever.

That's the same UNCONFIRMED RUMOR that's been spread around.

That's not news, it's a RUMOR. It's not an official announcement from anyone. Much less Apple.

If there was any real info on an upcoming 3G iPhone, you wouldn't need to search. There would be tons of threads about it all over this forum.

The best info we have is that Steve Jobs will announce something this January at MacWorld. Could be a 3G iPhone. Could be new laptops. Could be that he just saved a lot of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico. Nobody who really knows will post that info on this or any other forum. Apple is very careful with their new product information.

I usually don't say anything about people not searching, but you must be kidding. The reason there is no info that is helpful is because no one has any idea. The only solid evidence is next year.

wow! I love my iPhone! But the last phone I will ever buy is the 3g iteration. Ease of use combined with net speed? It makes me salivate. But, it would piss off a lot of first adopters if the update comes too soon.

Everyone is all horny for the 3G, but just know, it will substantially reduce the battery life of the phone, just like the blackjack did. With the blackjack I had to disable 3g or carry 2 batteries around with me make it through a 10 hour day....

Odd... I make it about 2 1/2 days with the BlackJack, 3G & Goodlink on with moderate useage (maybe 50 mins/day talk, bluetooh on, 10 text a day)

Maybe your speaking about the orginal slim battery?

the iPhone's edge only internet is pretty much pointless... hooking it up to a WiFi is cool but if you had 3G that would just be not really needed...

It will be interesting to see what is announced at MacWorld. It's worth the couple week wait.

Yeah, MacWorld is when we will find out...I cant wait... I am definitely getting the iPhone2....i returned the iphone i got for christmas to wait for the next iPhone
