Yes, in a way. The system known as "Short Mail" on Sprint is their answer to SMS. Think of it as SMS "online," kind of like how Hotmail is "online" email. You will need to use your phone's web browser to send and read your Short Mail.

If somebody from another carrier sends you an SMS, it will come to you as a Short Mail message. If you send a Short Mail message to a phone number that is on another carrier, it will come to them as a regular SMS (delivered straight to their phone).
