voice dialing problems using bluetooth

hey guys, when i try voice dialing using my motorola H700 bluetooth, it just goes to "initializing" and doesn do anything...
it works perfectly fine when the bluetooth is NOT connected, I can hit the side button, and it'll start up right away...but once i connect the bluetooth, and press the call button, it just says "initializing" and doesnt go anywhere...
I can still answer calls with the bluetooth and hold the button to call the last person...but the voice dialing just freezes...bytheway this is for my telus 8830...
has anyone had this issue?

While I applaud RIM's efforts to finally offer voice activated functionality, I too am not happy with this implementation.
I have the same issue with my 8830 on Bell. However, I notice problems even without my Bluetooth headset. It says "initializing", then scans the address book for several minutes....thus negating whatever convenience one might realize from it.
Further, the accuracy of the technology is not good. I've asked to call a particular name, and it will offer a completely different name or option. For example, I'll say, "Call John Smith". And it will respond: "Signal strength is good".
We can only hope OS4.3 will improve on this.

I have had that issue with my VZ 8830, but it seems to come and go. Last few days it has been working perfectly (with the bluetooth headset).
Sorry I can't add more

Works great on my 8310 (ATT) with the new Jawbone I got for Christmas. A simple tap on the button brings up voice dial, which is quite accurate using the Jawbone.

Same problem. Using the Jabra BT250, I get the initializing problem a couple of times a week. Only solution, which I don't like, is to pull the battery and reboot the phone. Any other solutions?

I can commisserate
I added a Motorola bluetooth to my Curve this week and at first it was working fine, but by the 3rd day I was getting that annoying delay with the voice dialing that the OP posted about. It's stuck like that forever, to the point I give up & just manually dial (where's the irony in that as we are prepping for the new hands-free law to go into effect in a little over a week?
)
Anyway, I found this thread by doing a search to see if there were any solutions anyone may have found, but it looks like I may actually be doing a new search to see if there is anyway to turn off the auto-voice dial command when my BT is attached. It doesn't seem to work & when it does I get mismatched results from the address book (even though I did the digit edit & changed the accuracy setting, oh well!)
