I was at the AT&T Store and the employee there said that you cant use leather cases for the iphone that has magnet on it.. Im just wondering if this is true because pretty much all they sell on EBAY is leather pouches with the magnet on them for the iphone
Thanks

You can use magnet cases and it won't cause a problem. When I first got mine I was originally using my old Blackberry leather case to carry it until my iPhone case came in. Blackberry cases have several magnets in them by default to trigger the sensors on the handhelds (to sense when it's removed from the holster and put back in). The iPhone was not affected by these magnets.

Cuz this idiot said that if I got a leather case with magnet flap that it would change the color of the iphone screen.. I guess he just wanted me to buy the $35 iphone case that AT&T sells.. Is there a website or a ebay link to a good one that I can buy?

LOL! Magnets only affect CRT displays. Those are the old glass tubes used in old TVs and computer monitors. If your iPhone had a CRT display, then yes a magnet would cause some discoloration. But, if your iPhone had a CRT display, it would also be MUCH bigger, definitely not pocket sized, and probably much heavier.

The iPhone has an LCD display, which is not affected by magnets. So you don't need to worry.

As for cases, unfortunately I don't know of any off the top of my head that use a magnet clasp. Try marware.com and goincase.com.

How about other parts of the iPhone? I remember reading that the razors should be kept away from magnets.

The razors use magnets to tell the phone when the flip is closed and when its not. The iphone has none such magnets inside of it. The magnetic cases work fine for the iphone.

Ah ok.

Can magnets do any damage to laptop computers?

Depends on how strong the magnet is. A magnet can damage the hard drive.

I used a magnetic case for a couple of months. It didn't cause any problems. The iPhone doesn't use a hard drive so I don't see why it would be affected.
