I sold my Cingular BB 8800 on eBay, but the buyer says it is not unlocked. Before I shipped it, I did a "Wipe Handheld" Can that re lock it?

Thanks in advance.

umm...when he means unlocked, he means that it is locked to your carrier..."wipe handheld" only erased the data on the phone such as phone numbers and such...the buyer probably thought you unlocked it for him so he can use it on any GSM carrier...

unlocking service is available online for aruond $25-30..so if you promised it being unlocked, get the ESN/IMEI number of the blackberry from the buyer and pay an online site to get u the unlock code, send it along with the instructions on how to unlock it to the buyer...the instructions can be found on the website that does the service for you...

i did mine at cellunlocker.net or something...

if you didnt advertise it as unlocked or that it can be used on any GSM network then that is not your problem.

if you want to unlock it for him as a courtesy, offer to pay half.

Im coming from years of motorola modding and if "wipe handheld" just means reset the phone to factory settings on motorolas it would not relock it to a certain network.

one other thing, shouldnt this be in the RIM forum? im just wondering not trying to give any hassle to anyone.
