explorer.exe dying

on windows 2000 professional, latest SP. using P800 comm suite v. 1.4.2.
when attempting to browse phone data (files/folders) via P800 shortcut added on desktop, explorer.exe (windows explorer, not IE) locks up... opening task manager shows 3 or more explorer.exe processes (depending on how many times you retry opening P800 file explorer after it locks up)... then have to kill each process. some of them have memory usage sizes of 10MB+.
any one experiencing this problem, or similar... maybe desktop locking up when browsing files/folders of their P800???
workaround is to kill all explorer.exe processes, and run a new explorer.exe task from task manager.
thanks...

I had a similar (albeit different) problem some time back. Launching Windows Explorer, it would just lock-up, tight as a barrel. Task Manager would show My Documents -- Not Responding.
Does this happen ONLY when using the "My P800 shortcut?" Can you launch Windows Explorer in general?
In my case, it was a "collision" between PC Suite (any version) and another app. It was a one or another has to go situation. PC Suite won out but it took awhile to track it down.
For me, it was a program I use to get music to my iPod. XPlay. There was no doubt, either one could be uninstalled and Explorer would work again.
Don't know if the "collision" theory applies to your issue.
