I'm tired of all this waiting on a good phone like the SE K850. I want a decent REAL phone, too. I think the LG Shine is a cheap feeling phone, the Samsung 737 slider is a little better, but doesn't feel as solid as the SE 580 my wife is getting. So, that leaves an iPhone, but that whole data package deal and whatnot that is required kinda kills it for me.

Anything? I think the CU920 is coming, but I am afraid it will have the same cheap feel of other LGs. Maybe I am wrong, but seeing not a single test or comparo to the iPhone, I am feeling a little aprehensive...

Any AT&T guys willing to make a New Year special with a little insider info?

Seriously, why do you think that creating yet another new thread about the same topic is gonna net you different answers then those that have already been posted?

Because Mr. Thread Cop, there were no answers in there. No employees chimed in. Sometimes, when a new topic is created, it gains a new life and goes forward.

Under your philosophy, half this forum would be deleted... Take any branded forum and look up a particular model of phone. Know how many are pretty much the same?

Relax. If it pisses you off or offends you, DON'T READ IT... Yikes.

Yeah, the LG Shine feels cheap while the A737 feels solid? What kind of world are you in, Lizard buddy?

How about this OTHER THREAD that's approximately 10 threads down from your thread that has PRACTICALLY THE SAME TITLE?

Have you ever been watching a TV station and some moron at the station decides that it would be a cool idea to play the same commercial twice in a row? Annoying, isn't it?

Because I don't like when random people try to moderate forums. Back to topic.

Basically it looks like the only thing releasing on att even remotely interesting
within the next couple months is the CU920 Vu. By the time this k850 everyone is waiting for releases it will be old news. I don't buy se phones anyway.

Yeah, I need to redo that thought. It was a dummy phone and maybe it was it's appearance that made me feel it was cheaper. The A737 after playing with it more in thoughts of one for my wife, I thought the Shine felt the best in terms of weight and feel, the Sony second as the key pad felt better (I hate smooth keys) and the A737 last. The A737 felt really cheap...

As far as reception and stuff, I obviously can't evaluate.

My wife hates flip phones and wanted a candybar style. We ended up with the BB Pearl...

So is a guy with 14 posts that has not much to contribute other than to police thread counts...

Again, posted a different thread because like this one, it died seemingly. But, again, things get brought back from the dead and thus, a big thanks to certain folks....

But, I have learned a little in all of this and haven't posted a new thread so, you should be tickled, no?

Thanks.

Yeah, the CU920 is "supposedly" due out in mid Feb. However, even the employees at these stores have that deer in the headlights look on their face when you ask them. It's a shame that building up hype (Maybe these sites are where the hype starts?) isn't something they worry about. Verizon is advertising the hell out of their VU and Envy and yet, AT&T has the LG Shine in their ads. Yeah, exciting, huh?

Back in the CU920 thread, someone made a great comment that people buy phones primarily based on form and aesthetics. They buy something like BlackBerrys, CU920s, VUs, etc w/o any data plans. Why? They like the style of the phone. The iPhone is a great example.

I think AT&T needs to realize this. They release these cheese ball phones to attract the general basics out there. They are the largest for sure, but they don't seem to want to go too heavy in big deals. Hell, they get free advertisement of the iPhone through Apple and yet, AT&T is mentioned only sparingly. So, outside the business based phones (Treo, BB, Palm, etc), where does AT&T fit in the "WOW" segment of phone companies?

All these young kids convince mommy and daddy who have basic phone service to buy into a company that has cool phones. Want proof? Look at Verizon's ads. They have a LOT of kids and have these family scenes where the kids are the focus. Kids persuade a LOT.

Vu, K850, better Nokias, etc will help draw the "WOW" factor, but like DukeL just stated, by the time these come, they will be old news... Already are after CES...

If you want the "wow" factor, just buy unbranded mobiles.

True, you can buy as soon as they come out, but many people like to buy cheaper and don't mind the AT&T branding and related things with a Branded phone. They like the form, function and such and considering for $20 you can unlock them, it isn't a bad deal to wait a few months and get it branded...

I personally will not wait anymore. I am buying unbranded if I see a cool phone that satisfies what I need/want.

To each their own, I guess...

Posted by: DukeL

It seems like alot of the unbranded phones lack the 850/1900 US 3G bands though and also you have to deal with internet retailers or other inconvenient sources to acquire these unlocked phones. Not saying I don't buy them sometimes though.

Your title is like the rooster taking responsibility for the sunrise. There are too many "Official" thread in these forums.

I was SO disappointed in the a737. I'm glad I didn't get one now! I checked out one of my friends' lime green ones, it was to wobbly and I didn't like the keypad. Same with the blackjack II, that scroll wheel doesn't feel solid at all, but that is another story.

The title says "officially", not "official", referring to the fact that we are now "in" the month of January,

I am glad that you told me because the original poster was a day late.

Reading comprehension isn't everyone's strong suit... "official" threads are a little over abundant here on Howard, but hey, when topics get to 25 plus pages, starting a new thread seems "ok" to me since reading through all those days of posts gets a little like spinning your wheels for nothing...
