Which formats does the w580i take?
What settings does the video have to be to watch a video smoothly on this unit?

Say I'm taking a .flv video downloaded from youtube, how can I get that on my w580i with what settings?

I have Super C.

Or you could use vixy.net

Posted by: Pen2theDu

I would do that but I already downloaded most of the vids, and vixy generally gives me a server error

So using already dowloaded .flv files

Which formats does the w580i take?

Firstly 580i supports mp4 format.

Secondly you are try using the software Total Video Converter.

Using Total Video Converter convert the FLV to mp4 and then transfer them to your phone.

Let me know how it goes.

What settings should I do on Total Video Converter
Video Scale, Framerate, aspect, output video & audio codec?

Reason I am asking is some of the videos, especially the .mpg files I tried to convert, came back very choppy and pixelated. It does not play like that on my computer, what can I do for smooth playback on the w580i?

Posted by: Pen2theDu

anyone know the right settings and why my vids are choppy?

Posted by: Pen2theDu

bump!
just trying to get this right

I use Ultra Mobile 3GP Video Converter.... the resolution of the videos should be 176X144 and the format is 3GP.... this software is an good tool to convert your movies...

Thanks!
I wish I could find some freeware though, $30 to convert some videos is quite a bit considering all the other free options out there.
Is it really good or is there something similar for free that can do the job?

HI Pen2theDu

Sorry for the late reply got tied up with something and was pulled away.

When converting using Total Video Converter I normally leave it at the default setting. If I feel the video is not too good then i then change the setting. It takes only a few minutes to convert the video (I converted a 9 mb file and it took about 4 - 6 mins)

I can send u the software. I am not sure if I am allowed to post it here. If its ok I can upload it and post the link here.

or on the other hand send me a private message and will send u the link

i always used m3 for k750 so now i have a w580 i will try it (with k800 settings as no w580 profile). I also have super but that was good picture but slow frame rate

Posted by: tripleX2k7

Yep, M3 is definitely the best I have found. Just put the videos on my w580i and they are great quality! I had to set it to K800 seeing as there is no W580 setting. Thing is I can't remember where I downloaded it and it never seems to have got past version 0.8. And when I start it I get an error message telling me to exit, but I drag that off the screen and ignore it - and I get great results!

A decent video converter that's free is SUPER©. It's at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
Cadapult

Thanks for the info everyone!
I have been using SuperC or Total Video Converter as my conversion software from the beginning, just wanted to make sure I had the right settings down in it.

What is M3?
And what framerate do you guys use?

3gp (SE) output container
XviD Video codec
AAC audio
320:240 Video Scale
4:3 Aspect
15 fps
144kbps video
22050KHz, 2 Channel, 64kbps Audio

Thanks man, thats what I was looking for, I wish there was a Rep option here!

Posted by: keifkeifkeif

you must change the file type to a 3gp or a mp4 file

I've converted everything but my video only plays as a sound file?

Posted by: clunk1234567

Do it this way, and only this way. Don't tinker with the settings and you'll get the perfect video

Happened when i converted for my w810i. It wasn't a problem with the conversion. Video playback for resolutions above 176*144 were not supported. Maybe similar problem?

Thanks!

i have a w580i and i downloaded movies from you tube and used them on my phone and the quality is super good. i used tube sucker and then after i downloaded that i converted them into mp4, the mp4 converter is free on tube sucker, then you just transfer the files on your phone.
