How to type letters on HTC Touch phonescreen (##MSL#)

Im trying to program my phone (##MSL#) and i have no idea how to bring up the letters in the phone section, can someone help?

i think you would just key in the corresponding number, being ##675#

There should be something at the bottom in the middle that has a 20 in a circle that should bring up your keyboard
