Treo 650 Shut Down Problems

Hey now,

Thanks in advance for any help and I apologize if this has been asked before but.... my Treo 650 has been shutting down everytime a voicemail comes in and then it takes a dozen tries to get it to come back on. I haven't changed anything with the phone besides getting a game "beamed" to me recently. Is it time for a new phone or is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks.

The only way of knowing whether a new phone/Treo is required is to perform a hard reset (erases all information on Treo and restores it back to the factory defaults). However, before doing this, I suggest that you hotsynch and backup your Treo as well as try the other various resets (soft reset & warm reset) to see if that fixes your problem.

If the soft reset and warm reset don't work, you can then try the hard reset (remember to back up your Treo as well as hotsynch it before doing this). After you've performed a hard reset on your Treo, don't install anything on it and try it. If it still has the same problem, then chances are that it is a hardware problem (or a firmware problem). If you no longer have the problem, it was most probably a software conflict/problem that was causing your Treo to shutdown.

I remember seeing this same problem awhile back with a few users.

I don't know how long you've had your 650 but check to make sure you have the latest update from Cingular for your OS.

Then I would do what lmcjipo suggested. Generally that will get you around issues.
