Does anyone know if AT&T will connect and fill in the holes between the newly turned on 3G service areas for Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany so that there is 3G when going down the NY Thruway for a good length of it. I know it was just implemented here but was just wondering if anyone knew any details. Thanks.

I'd love to know and a bit further north of Albany into Saratoga Springs. Going up the Northway, 3G cuts out around exit 7

Clifton park is well covered in 3G. Up to Exit 9. I pick up 3G in the clifton park center and such.

I wish it would head north and cover more of saratoga.

They have EVDO in Athens NY (population 1500) 20 miles south of Albany. ATT needs to hurry this roll out or they might lose me to the evil VZW

I live in Batavia, right btw Buffalo and Rochester and we don't have 3G yet...hope the gap is filled soon.

I can imagine that they would. It's only a matter of when I think. If you look between the edges of the 3G areas for Buffalo and Rochester, then Rochester and Syracuse those gaps are only about 35 miles wide approximately according to google earth. I would assume at&t would want these gaps filed to cover the thruway and get some of that market share of those who use that everyday commuting, aside from all the other people at&t would also get from the outskirts of Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. I'm sure too that there are plenty of people in these gaps who are just waiting for them to be filled in who also won't buy a 3G phone and/or one of the media bundles until they are. at&t needs to fill in these gaps and realize the benefit of a long stretch of upstate 3G coverage.

Don't know what their manpower is like but one would think it would've been easier to hook everyone up the first round then to have to come back. Then again, who's to say tbat the hardware isn't already in place and it's a matter of just flipping a switch...hope the latter is the case.
