Just moved it to the News/Rumors section. Sorry if a lot of you aren't aware of it yet, I guess I should have made mention of it earlier.

The w760i looks nice, but we need some 3.5mm loving for once...

...seems like more blah from SE as usual -

Posted by: bballs91

What are you talking about? K850i has US 3G plus 5mp autofocus xenon flash camera vs 3.2 mp fixed focus no flash on W760i.

Posted by: bballs91

yea but k850 is very expensive and I dont like how its looks. By the way these were just officially announced, w760i has built in GPS

The rumor has been confirmed on the Sony Ericsson Press Room.

The old style flip on the W350 looks so awkward. Reminds me of one of those old T-series Ericsson phones.

The W760 looks waaay too similar to the W580 with a slightly upgraded camera(3.2 mp) probably without AF. It looks like they even stole the top loading memory card slot from the W580 too.

The Z555 just looks somewhat cheap. SE is really bad at making these hidden displays.

...I think they are starting to get bad at making phones period.

Posted by: tfp

the phones don't look that bad. don't mind the slider look, and really, how much can you change on a slider??? the 350 though, does remind me of the early 'flip' phones, not just the ericssons, but also those stupid motorolas that came in flip and non flip. the flip was so useless, i think mine broke off and didn't affect the performance of the phone at all.

Posted by: omgitzdanny

w760 doesn't look so bad. might be my next phone.

Agreed. Looks like a sad attempt at the Nokia 7500/7900 with the angled camera and speakers.

The only thing that is lurking me away from the w760i is the absent of flash!! 2.2" screen + GPS = always welcome.

after all these years of waiting... a true t39 successor is here...

or is it a z700 successor?

Posted by: wirelessgal

I like the w760 in silver! And stereo speakers too! I was going to get the w910i, but I've read about the bugs on that phone. So I'm going to wait for the w760 to come out and decide from there. Atleast by that time the w910i's price will be lower and the bugs will be fixed.

The W350i is seriously a pretty weak device in its current state. The UI may be ok (though it was all janky and broken so I couldn't even see the demo) but the housing is very cheap.

Actually I think it looks great. Might be my next phone too, as soon as I shake of that awful thing on my back called Verizon Wireless.

i'll wait for a more powerful mid-to-high end version then

I loved my T39, one of the best phones I've ever owned, I for one am glad to see the design revival, I definitely want one for another backup, if it's not too expensive

Some previews: W350i video preview, W760i video preview and Z555i video preview

The W350 is interesting looking. Curious to know if flipping down the front answers calls. I'll assume so. As well it's a shame there's not a button that flips it down for you as it looked like he had to do it manually in the vid. One handed may be cumbersome but I sure like the looks of it. Hope it's below $450 upon release.

Posted by: cta16

The thing about the W350 is that the buttons that are on the flip are purely mechanical and they only press the buttons that are hidden beneath the flip when closed. Seems like its going to be a low end phone.

Posted by: wirelessgal

I like the w760i. It does look similar to the w580i which I was thinking of getting. But the more I read about the w760i, I think I might wait for that instead. Too bad it won't be out until Q2.

I don't think you're right about that. If you look at the pics the buttons don't line up with the d-pad when closed. Let alone the bottom side of the slip is completely smooth.

Posted by: cta16

They are mechanical. Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericss...eview-209p4.php. Read the paragraph under 'Design and Construction'.

Posted by: UFO_Sasquatch

That is odd. I just can't see how that would work as the bottom is flat. I guess I don't see how pressing on the top will actually press the right buttons. Interesting.

A thin flexible rubber/plastic membrane would do the job.

I haven't seen this kinda flip for like 6 yrs lol

Exactly. Thats why I think the Flip part will be flimsy and have a cheap feeling.

This picture shows something interesting though. if you look at where the button are supposed to be on the bottom of the flip, you can see three small marks there. I wonder if that is a sign of wear and tear already or are they part of the pressing mechnism...

Those just look like keypad impressions to me.

Posted by: FidoFan

The W760 is a perfect 3G replacement phone for the W580 for Rogers and AT&T.

While we're at it, how about the "standard" micro USB connector? How long before we finally see that from the big manufacturers?
