well i want to take off a few xmas pounds and i was wondering if the 8310 has a mp3 player and if so is it easy to use...

yes the curve 8310 from at&t DOES have an mp3 player and it is pretty simple to use in my opinion

I have the 8320 from T-Mobile, which has the same MP3 player. It's very simple to use, and the sound is pretty decent through both headphones and speakerphone, but it definitely lacks some standard features, such as playlist creation. Still, if you're just going to keep a handful of tracks on there for when you go jogging, or if you don't mind not being able to create custom playlists from your music library, it would probably work just fine.

I personally need to be able to create custom playlists on the fly. My MP3 player's sound cut out a month ago, and since then I've been using my Blackberry, but I'm definitely going to look into buying a dedicated mp3 player to replace the old one.

You need the software installed, just so that the proper drivers get loaded, but after that you can drag N drop music/pics without using any software. When you plug in your USB cable, windows will recognize it and pop up with a window asking what you want to do.

ok one more question... where do i get the software... on the disk.. or is it preloaded in the phone... its a rogers phone...

The desktop software on the disc maybe the 4.2 version, a later version can be found on the BB website. That version will be the 4.3, thats what I was using

ok... but isnt it already on the blackberry or do i need to put the disc in?

You do not necessarily HAVE TO use the software if you don't want to, although the software has the capability to covert for optimal playblack on your BlackBerry.

If mass storage mode support is enabled on your BlackBerry, you can just plug it in and type your password. A window will pop up, just like when you plug in a USB flash drive. You may then select to browse, and then drag and drop MP3s into the music folder. This is assuming you are using a memory card in your BlackBerry.
