I'm using a 2gig minisd with my 904sh and it works fine
can save pics, vids, music, and transfer from pc and otherway around just fine

works on my 903sh too

Seems to depend on the brand, with the 903 Sandisk 2GB cards always seemed to have problems, but I've now read that Transcend cards are working fine...

Then again, maybe it's that recently made cards are doing something different to work without a problem. Who knows...

If they get cheaper I may bite the bullet and try one as well. See what happens...

lol I actually got my 2 gig transcend card 2 1/2 years ago for like 10 dollars in some warehouse sale. >_> So I think it is brand that is affecting their functions.....newer ones might work I guess.

Hey, i just recieved my next sim v6 and its working!! However the only problem now is I do not know how to transfer files from the pc to my 904. I''ve installed the usb driver, handset manager and modem driver. When i go to my computers, removable disk G appears however when i try to open it it says please enter disk etc. Any of you guys care to help?

Best bet is probably get a SD adapter for the mini SD and use a card reader.

no one's 904sh does this with next sim 6?

it only seems to show this on boot up when I use my cingular sim card, when I put a vodafone roaming sim card and a tmobile sim card it doesnt and goes right into the phone

Yeah i get that boot message, i will always have to choose the no label to use the form if i choose the above one it says Application failed etc. I havent tried it with any other sim card i use an O2 sim. If any of you know how to prevent this, please tell us : ).

I searched the phone in hope of formatting the mini sd but i cant find it, can you tell me where? Also i used the sd adapter method, but whenever i tried to transfer files onto the sd card it says disk is write-protected! I have moved the tab on the adapter up and down but still to no avail.

I don't have a miniSD, but this is how to do it on the 920SH:
Settings -> Connectivity -> Memory Card -> Format Card

Try that first, and then put it into the SD adapter. I don't know if you slide it up or down, but it should say "LOCK" and then an arrow pointing up or down.

I got it to work now!! Thanks but when i pressed format card it asked me for my handset code?? Where is this?

Anyway i click mass storage and attached usb and wa la. Thanks though.

9999 is the default code for Sharp phones.

Yea but that's a docomo phone >_>

anyways it's probably better to use bluetooth to transfer stuff if you have it but otherwise SD+Adapter is the way to go.....and damn I'm really slow at replying lol I saw that post earlier but forgot to reply >_>

However it does not show up when i click all music or change to memory card. If i put the file into Private...--> Music then it appears and i can play it. After converting a file to mmf and putting it in the DCIM file, when i try to change ringtone it cannot find. However when i put it in Private --> ringtones it does.

I just realised! my service is not working, although i can access functions such as camera, for operator name: cannot show, packet service unavilable, service is no service.

What does this mean?

MP3, acc/mp4 can't be used as a ringtone so stick with the mmf. And uh as for the DCIM folder. I think it's only used for pics o.o

If your using it as a ringtone you'll need to use Midi's or MMF files and put those in the sounds and ringtones files located in the private folder in the SD which the phone will have made. Then all you have to do is click on the sounds and ringtones folder (if your setting ringtones) and select switch to mem card this shouldn't be that hard o.O

Music and ringtones should be put into the other folder in located in Private.

As for your 2nd problem. I don't know try restarting and or reapplying the sim card. >_>

Ohhh sorry i thought the DCIM folder was the "mini sd folder" and the private folder was the internal memory. Nevermind, thanks!

DCIM is only for pictures you take with the camera.

Ringtones go in PRIVATE\My Items\My Ringtones or whatever it's called. You have to switch to the miniSD when selecting a ringtone to see the card's files. Options>>Switch to miniSD.

lol as far as I know you can't access the internal memory of the 904sh from the mini Sd card XD

Anyways I'm glad that problem was sorted out. Now as for your network problem. I thought about it and I'm still confused. So your phone works as if it were any unlocked phone but you can't call or what? Then either the contact on your sim is messed up or your sim card died? lol I'm totally confused so that's just a wild guess >_>

Maybe some veteran member here will show up and enlighten you in regards to that problem.

Woohoooo i got it working! It seems it was just the placement of the next sim. I had to keep sticking tape on it and if it was too much it couldnt fit.

I still get the Boot message though asking me to choose Universim or No label. Oh well.

Auto turn on feature is like so important for me lol I'm quite used to my 903sh turning on by itself when it's alarm sounds. The 904sh loses this feature >_> what were they thinking -_-

Yea I know it does >_> I meant its a shame that it doesn't go with the clock like the 903sh.

Now I have to set the auto turn on like a few minutes before my alarm >_> unless your saying that it'll turn itself on with the alarm (I don't think so)

hmm, anyone else with the next sim 6 have issues with the calls duration not showing up? it shows it when using hypersim256, I'll have to swithc the sims and see what happens

so, i think i've waited long enough (and so have my white 904SH). i'm thinking of buying the sim from eBay, but it's so confusing because there are so many different names. and i'm skeptical about the ones being offered at a cheaper price. i've been keeping up with this forum and everyone seems to be doing okay with whatever they bought...pss-sim, hypersim, next sim v6, etc. can someone give me a brief explanation as to what's different between all those sims? is there one that is better than the other? would there be a difference between getting one that is $90 and $40?is there something i should avoid getting?

it would be great if you guys can give me the contact (or eBay link) too.

both my 904Sh and myself thanks you a whole bunch!~

If your just using it for a 904sh there really is no difference. Really the only difference between these different packaged/named sims is the place where the chip is and how you should cut your sim card (whether you have to or not) The only other difference is that some of those cards may be able to unlock a docomo handset too but then your only using it for your 904sh so anyone should do. Of course theres always the risk that what ever you buy could somehow not be compatible with your sim card for some unknown reasons so buy with caution?

well... my $40 ebay next sim does not work. a lot of people got it from that guy actually, aw614 was one of them but mine just says insert USIM (not usim mep). I stuck the card+next sim in a motorola, k750, they all read rogers fine so the contacts are all in place. What should I do T_T I tried trimming it, moving it around. I remember someone else have a 6 year old rogers sim and used it with this, works fine too. Mine is really old as well, BUT I try it with a newer 3 year old rogers sim and it also says insert USIM!!!

no i dont have a voda jp one that's why.. but it's weird, the phone was brand new and this was the first thing ever stuck into it. I tried 3 HK sim card issued in 2007, rogers 2005, rogers 2002, fido 199?, none of them work in 904. but you stick any of those cards + the next sim in an unlocked phone, reads it perfectly. argghhhhh

well i had to put my vodafone japan sim card in mine to master reset it and then got it to work.

FIrst time i got my 904 i didnt have to reset it, but if it was ever put in offline mode chances are it wont get the insert sim ard error. maybe get a friends voda jp sim to master reset it.

ANother weird case is someone else I know that I bought him a inex 128 for vodafone didnt work on his 904 even after he master resetted, but it worked on a sh905i odd

i ordered the next sim v6 today from alvenyang on eBay. it should arrive in the next couple of days. i'm wondering if i should have my rogers sim card duplicated, just in case if my doesn't work the next sim.

can i have the sim duplicated at any rogers store? how much does that cost usually?

What do you mean duplicate your SIM card? If you're talking about backing up contacts and sms, just save it to your memory card from a regular phone. If the NextSIM doesn't work, it won't harm your Rogers SIM card in any way anyway.

Oh man.. what have I come to. Non-Japanese phones are now "regular phones" =P

Duping your SIM is illegal. 'Nuff said. If anything goes wrong, go to a Rogers store and get them to cancel your old SIM and activate a new one with the same account.

For informational purposes only, for the hell of it I shoved a 4 gig mini sd card into my 904sh and as expected it couldn't read the card. It couldn't even start up properly with it when I turned the phone on. Well at least I can still use my 2gig card. >_>

there's really nothing out there...just more houses being built and old folks communities. haha. it's not that i don't want to take public transit, but damn, i can't get to real civilization without driving living out that far east. also, my friends have refused to visit me...even tho my apt atop of the garage is filled with booze. i guess the free drinks can't even lure ppl to that part of town.

i'll definitely think about coming tomorrow. it'll depend on how much studying i get done in the evening.

On the 904sh SIM will not work properly?can this be the reason why my 904sh is crasching continuously with an alpha sim?
If I use the japan vodafone card (the one that allows you to use the function of the phone without call e sms) everything go all-right, the phone works ok...

I have one hyper sim card for sale on ebay. I bought two on Jan, thought I need one for my 904sh and one for back up in case the first one breaks.
