Hi guys, long time 903SH user here. Barely decided to join the hofo forums.

I have a problem: First I am using euro 1.046 fw.

I dont know if it is just me or maybe it happened to you guys, but my 903SH is not reading any new songs that i put in there. ive always used the same method as before where i put the mp3 into itunes and convert to ACC (m4a). but all os a sudden (since yesterday) my 903SH just decided to not read any new songs that i put into it despite the same old method i used from before.

what what did i do?
i thought it was my itunes. do i uninstalled and redownloaded the old version 7.4.2. and what happened? nothing. 903SH still cant read my ACC format songs.

so i did a complete clean install on my laptop thinking it was my laptop's fault and still NO HOPE. i dont know whats wrong. ive manage to save some of my old songs that i have converted onto an external HD. Luckly though, the 903SH was able to play those old ones.

weird though, because i tested out itunes by converting a song i knew 100% that worked before using the same method and now my 903SH doesnt read anymore. i switched to jap mode and euro mode. and any new songs either mp3 or ACC will not be read anymore.

for some reason though, when i pop those newly converted songs into the 904SH, it reads it.

why does my 903SH do this now????

can someone convert a small mp3 to ACC (m4a), test it on their euro 1.046 firmware and confirm that its 100% working, send it to me and ill see if it works too.

thanks anyone

alright guys, i think i found an answer to my own question but i need help figuring out what it is.

notice the red boxed area. the image on the left belongs to my friend. i had him encode the same song on his computer. i noticed that the only thing different (when looking at the file's details) are the attributes. one is A (the one which worked) and AN (which doesnt work on the 903SH)

What are these things anyways? and if ive been using the same method all along, why is it like this now? and if i did a clean install (to see if i did anything wrong with my laptop) why is it still not working

i looked at my old files that i encoded a while back ago versus the new ones that i am encodeding that arent working, and i noticed that they are also attributes with "A" labeled and NOT "AN"

if anyone can help me figues out this problem, id greatly appreciaite it!!!

remember it is AAC, not ACC.

are they encoded with VBR or CBR? as far as I know VBR will not work on your phone.

also, the bitrate must be 192kbps or less.

sorry, whats VBR or CBR?
and i use itunes. sorry its my type for typing ACC.
itunes have an option for a right click and "convert selection to AAC"

still cant find a reason for the fix...

VBR is variable bitrate... used for making compression better without sacrificing too much audio quality.

CBR is constant bitrate... what you hear is what you got. max bit rate is 192kbps. I am not so familiar with itunes but you should be able to choose if the song will be encoded with vbr or cbr.
