Can't decide what to do for a new phone!

Hi, I have been in the market for a new phone since November.
I've always had provider branded phones so I'm deciding to break out of that mode. I have never had a Nokia or a Sony Ericsson so I have no personal experience with any of them. But I would like one. I've had branded Samsungs and a Motorola. I did not like the feel, operation, or look of them.
My requirements:
A Decent Camera with Xenon
Somewhat Decent Music capabillities
Candy Bar form factor
I don't change phones often so what I get is what stays
It got to the point where I couldn't decide between N82 and K850.
I recently decided to omit the Nokia N-series simply because I just don't need all of the features it has to offer.
However, the k850 seems to be plagued with so many problems it completely saddens me.
To make matters worst i live in America
so I need the 850mhz Band and on AT&T which limits me even further. I know AT&T is planning to launch the k850 in March but by then I've probably moved on.
I was hoping a new K-Series phone would be revealed @ CES this year but nope.
So should I:
Just get the k850 now and deal with the problems? (keep in mind I am in America so its gonna be a pain to get it repaired/exchanged)
Wait for early February for Sony Ericsson to make a K-Series release?
:
My least favorite option get a k790a?
Help please! I'm hoping to get some good advice from you experts.

k790 is a safe option, at least. It's got what you're looking for, and works well. Also costs a lot less than a k850.

The K790a is a solid phone. You will not be disappointed in it. That phone meets your requirements as mentioned above, and has a great camera on it also. Why is it your least favorite option?

IMO its kinda a old and I would like a newer phone

my K790a is almost a year old
but recently I use it again because it's stable as modem
but the joystick is almost broken (down stopped working), ordered joystick for K750, will replace it myself, and put K810 housing on it

If you don't absolutely need the 5 MP, k790a is a reliable bet as mentioned above.
I've had mine for around 14 months now and it's working just like new. I had the minor joystick issue about twice (easily fixed by pushing it around in circles) and a few WSOD but that's about it. It still looks almost new; I stuff it in my jeans pocket on a daily basis with only a screen protector. Also, it'd be a lot cheaper than the k850.
You mentioned that you want a phone that'll last you a while, so I understand that you'd want to get the most up-to-date model. In that case, I'd say wait for a new Cybershot model (they're bound to release phones like crazy this year) that you really like. By the sound of it, you're not thrilled with the k850 at all but just got sucked into its 5 MP/"flagship" status.

I'm thinking of doing a k790a in a k810 housing how much do u think thats gonna cost?

price of a k790 + price of a k810 casing lol
depends if you're gonna do it yourself or not.
should probably be around $300 depending on if you get the 790 new or used. you can get a new oem housing from cnn.cn for 42.99 and you can get a new k790 on ebay for about 250. so if you're comfortable in doing the swap yourself, around $300 if you're gonna take it to a store to do it for you, probably $350 give or take. hope that helps.

cnn.cn does not sell oem stuff tfp, just to let you know. They sell decent stuff, but it is not OEM.

ok, only mentioned it was oem cause its listed as oem on their site. false advertisement maybe???
Posted by: Heavy Fluid
False advertising. It is close to OEM, but it is not OEM. I am surprised to see that it says OEM.

yeah, all the stuff for the k810 says oem. oh well.
