Im looking at getting the NEC FOMA N905i cell phone. Im currently living in Japan but will be going back to Canada. It is dual mode 3G & GSM so what Im wondering is if I buy a new sim card can I use it on Canadian networks, like Rogers or Fido?
Also will the GPS transfer over and display Canadian Maps?

For now it's roaming from DoCoMo only. The hope is to have something like the PSS SIM available for DoCoMo, but don't count on it. You're better off getting an unlocked Softbank phone (you'll need a PSS SIM to use any model other than the Samsungs back in Canada because they aren't unlocked).

can you recommend some current softbank phones that I should look at? Ideally something with a decent camera?

Um... The Samsung 920SC would be your prime candidate (when it comes out, that is) if you're after a phone with a decent camera.
