Won't connect to MPT via usb any more

I have a V3C that I had been connecting to via usb and MPT's until yesterday. I think I had some bad usb ports or something because a few days ago I killed a couple of Cruzer usb sticks using those slots. Then I plugged my phone into one of the same slots and it wasn't recognized all of a sudden. I already tried un-installing and re-installing MPT's and updating that but it still isn't recognized. Found a link to some Motorola drivers in another thread here and tried those but still no luck. Any suggestions?

where are those ports?? Are they on an external 4 port hub or are these ports on the back of your pc case or laptop??

It was one of 4 ports on the motherboard at the back of the pc. I had a 3ft extension cable plugged into it to reach the top of my desk and had been plugging the usb pen drives and camera into that since I got my phone in Oct 2007.
The mini usb cable for the phone seems to be fine because it still works with my Olympus cameras.
I want to blame it on that 3ft extension cable but it still works fine with anything else I plug into it. Camera, new pen drives, printer, mouse etc.
Only other thing I can think of is maybe my board or power supply spiked the 5v for some reason but that even tests fine now.
A couple days after this happened I upgraded the mb and cpu but the phone and those previous pen drives are still not recognized on the new board or any other system I plug them into. I didn't upgrade to try and fix the problem, I already had my parts ordered when this happened.

Same thing happened to me..... first it worked with a 3ft USB extension and now two weeks later it doesn't work.??? I tried all four USB ports on the back of my tower, reinstalled MPT and changed USB/Modem Com on phone and still no luck

As soon as it happened to me I brought it upstairs and tried it on my laptop where it's always worked. No luck, same thing.
