Does anyone know how I can unlock the 8525 so that any phone company can use it (other than cingular)
I don't really know the difference between Kaiser and Hermes, so i don't really know which phone i have - all i know is that i have the 8525 for cingular
I know most of you are going to say "just search for it in the xda site" - but there are so many that i didn't know which one to choose, and i don't know whether to choose the hermes or the kaiser
Could someone just give me a direct link to an instructions on how to unlock it? (including the program)

Hermes = TyTN = 8525
Kaiser is a tilt.
A simple Google search brought me this result in less than 30 seconds:
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Just make sure you run it on something other than Vista (2K / XP / Server 2003) and it's pretty much automatic.

i tested out with a friend's T-mobile sim card and it works fine....i could call....but i forgot to try if i could go online with it
BUT....there is one problem...maybe it's just me
i have installed
K's Rom 1.30b
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350695
I don't have the data plan so i turn off my 3G
I usually see an E (for Edge)
Even the minute before i unlocked the phone, i saw an E
Then right after i unlocked it and restarted my phone, i only see G
It's been 3 days, and i have not seen an E - i turned on my 3G, and it still works....but im still missing my E
any advice?

This unlocker updates the radio ROM on the phone to a special version that is either exploitable or has been modified to be exploitable to unlock the SIM/CID restriction. Some versions of radio ROMs do not differentiate between EDGE and GPRS. You may only see a G when in 2.5G (EDGE) areas, and either a "U", an "H", or possibly "3G" in the status bar when in WCDMA areas.
Supposedly after unlocking both the CID and SIM, you can re-flash to any radio / carrier ROM you wish and the phone should remain unlocked in both capacites.
