Motorola V3xx Disable Camera Function

Hello All:

I work at a manufacturing facility for a large corporation. We are in the middle of the purchase of ~70 Motorola V3xx cell phones for key employees. These phones are company phones - to be used for support, etc. - company business only.

Our company, like many others (and the Gov.), has a policy restricting the use of cameras on plant sites. So we need to disable the camera function in these phones. We need to do this in a way which does not void the warrantee or damage the phones.

We have a possible solution - use the "lock" feature to lock the camera function. This has a couple of drawbacks:

1) There would have to be a secret unlock code put into the phones. While it seems to be possible to apply it to lock the camera function only, there would be other things that the users might want to do that would require them to use the unlock code, which has to be a secret under this scenario.

2) As with any password/code that is applied in a universal way, if it becomes necessary to give someone this code in an emrgency, the code can get out, and before you know it, everyone knows it...

Has anyone had to solve this before us? Is there a better way?

no way of doing it....period

your company should not have purchased camera phones.

They make blackberry 8800s and other phones with no cameras specifically for organizations like yours.
