I want to be able to make MP3's into ringtones on my new Palm. I know this is not a built-in capability (as far as I have been able to see), but how do I transfer MP3s to my devices through Hotsync and what ringtone manager do most people use and have luck with?

I've had trouble with all ringtone managers. I put the mp3's into my memory card and transfer it to the phone with a little program called minitones.

The only issue I have with it is that the mp3 ringtone isn't as loud as the regular ringtones.

I use Ringo to play the MP3 tones, works great on my 755p, no crashes or ringing issues (like I had with CallFilter on my Verizon 650). I use Audacity to clip the part of the song I want and even put a high pass filter on it (to preserve the speaker) and boost the volume on some tracks. I then put it on my miniSD card and away we go!

I will have to check out Ringo. I downloaded Musictones but it seems like it may be a little unstable on my 755p. I am going to pick up a miniSD card today, I think.

What techigirl said, try Minitones. Its a free app that takes your mp3s on your card & lets you select the part you want for the tone & then converts it into a ringtone. It puts the tone in RAM, meaning they take up space, but you don't need a separate ringtone manager. They just show up in your tone list in sounds.
