1, If I have Wlan at my house, can I use my W580i to access the Wlan so i do not have to pay for internet fees

W580 don't have wifi so you can't connect it to your wireless at home. There's not much to consume battery life, bluetooth have a power safe mode tho, but again, S.E. prob have the best battery life already. Your phone don't have a flash so can't do like a glow stick light show ( if that's what you mean;D). There's couple songs, themes, pictures that you can't delete, because they don't take up that much space. Do a search on here and look for java downloads, I'm pretty sure people post the links somewhere. I hope I answer most of your question, good luck!

If you debrand your phone, you should be able to delete the original content. As for games, any 240x320 JAVA game should work, doesn't need to be Sony Ericsson specific.

1. The Phone doesn't have Wifi, so you are unable yo use wireless internet.
2. Do what Heavy Fluid said
3. Dim down the brightness of the light, don't have any standby application running like The pedometer feature, keep your ringtone low volume and if it's on vibrate, don't let it vibrate too long and don't talk for a long period of time on the phone, etc.
4. No, unless you can some how mod the phone some how to do the "light show"
5. Unbrand/debrand your phone.
6. try searching google. you might tumble into some good sites that we are unaware of. I ... unlocked/unbrand my Rogers Sony Ericsson W580i with asia firmware ... i didn't like how rogers restrict the own personal mp3 ringtones.

Do all of the above, and make sure the pedometer is turned off like humber_student said. Mine was turned on by default out of the box. (Unlocked, unbranded from Sony store)
You can tell by the small feet in the bottom left corner with a number next to it.

Bluetooth off until you need it, then turn it back off when you are finished.

The phone will say that it is fully charged after a couple hours of charging, but will continue to trickle charge for a couple hours more. Let it charge at least six hours continuously from a complete discharge and see if you notice any difference.
