So does anyone how we can make our own ringtones for these phones?
I tried a mmf file from my 903.. doesn't seem to work on my 705sh.
MP3 doesn't work either.

I'm gonna try AAC and others tommorow because it seems the Rogers Hi-Speed Internet is on the fritz tonight.

MMFs for 903s won't work in 705SHs, but they'll work in 904SHs. 705SH needs MA-3 MMF files. Forget MP3 or AAC, they're not supported for ringtones in either phone, or in any Japanese market Softbank phone for that matter.

I found for the 903 that the mono-MA5 was the best balance of quality and length. To find out that 705sh only does MA3 is rather sad. Glad I went with the 904 instead of 705.

Well I'd tell WSD to make the MMF for the MA-7 chip, but I'd drop quality to 22,050Hz mono to get the balance of quality and length. That's what I found to be the best for me.

Oh maybe that's what I did. I can't remember. I must admit, though, it's kinda sad to be going back to a sharp where i have to make a ringtone for it. If only they weren't so big on DRM over there.

Yeah I know... personally I'd edit my ringtones anyway because I want to hear the chorus of songs, not the beginning of them, but yeah, their love of DRM is really sad. Maybe now with the big music labels giving in and releasing non-DRM music for portable music players, they'll move to kill off DRM on phones as well. Here's hoping.

I have a feeling DRM will die out sooner rather than later.

maybe not in Japan though... DRM is huge overthere...
But everywhere else in the world... DRM = Death if companies want to compete in the market.

Apple is letting go of it... Sony Music being the last fortress for DRM decided to drop it.

Yeah I feel they will die out soon enough, but as Maikurukun says, DRM is heavily entrenched in phones in Japan. It might take a little longer for them to dump the format.

Agreed. It will take a while for them to dump it - I know how it all works over there.

I was just saying days are numbered. It's a good way for networks to make a quick buck.

I also agree about editing your own ringtones to hear the chorus rather than an intro.
