If you already have a line with Att with over a year left on the contract can you buy an iPhone and just change your plan to an iPhone plan?

I am confused because the iPhone is not subsidized so I am unclear if you HAVE to sign a new two year agreement or not.

Or maybe even have to cancel my agreement and pay the termination fee and then start a new one?

I understand you can just your SIM in the iPhone and many features will work but I would want the iPhone specific plan so I could get ALL the features.

Thank you for the help.

You just start a new 2-year agreement on the day you activate the iPhone, superseding your existing agreement.

XFF hit it on the head. You start a brand new 2 year contract the day you activate your iPhone. If you are getting close to your contract date, you might want to see if you can get a subsidized phone from att, and then get your iPhone. You can then sell the subsidized phone that you got to help offset the cost of the iPhone if you wish.

Actually if you put your SIM in the iPhone, nothing will work.
