Does the iPhone tell you how many text messages you have sent/received during the month? Also, when you receive a text message does that count against your 200 per month; my guess is that it does.

Just dial *data# and it will tell you.

Yes both incoming and outgoing texts count.

You have to dial that number to find out, the iPhone itself won't tell you. It is annoying because it is limited to holding only 1000 messages and it doesn't tell you how many you have left.

I don't get this... why would you receiving a text from someone else come off your allowance?

Its like that for all carriers (unless you have unlimited m2m texting, but thats obvious) in the US at least. Spam texts aren't as big of a problem yet to need to switch to free incoming texts =/

I thought that since an incoming call counts off your minutes then it would make since that an incoming text would count against your allowance. What about incoming text from AT&T themselves, like the *data#. Which BTW, doesn't work right now because it says it's not available until my next billing cycle.

Any other neat numbers like *data# that I can use later on?

I text Google a lot at 466453 so I will probably up my account to the 1500 text messages per month. I can't imagine more than 50 a day.

Those should be free. The only other so-called Star services I've used are programmed into the phone under Settings->Phone->AT&T Services.
