if you restore using itunes the phone will be just like it was after you first activated it

Does Restore always bring it back to the original firmware rev or to the most current rev available?

If I jailbrake phone before activation and then restore does it bring it back like before activation too?
And what if I jailbrake phone, setup up different date, contacts etc then do backup and then restore to original then activate phone and try to restore backup data to phone will it change anything?
Basicly if backing up data on activated or jailbreaked phone makes any difference when you try to restore it?

No. It doesn't matter if it is jailbroken or not.
If you restore in iTunes directly (without hitting the shift key before you hit the restore key) it will update to the newest firmware. The other option is the shift option, but you will have to download the firmware version manually and have it ready to point to from iTunes.

Here's a question:

I just jailbroke my 1.1.2 OTB using the downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreak using jailbreakme.com, install BSD, Install okotop or whatever that was and updated back to 1.1.2 and jailbroke using the jailbreak.jar. ALL done on a Mac using OSX tiger. Now, that was all successful and I'm good to go.

My question (finally) is, if I need to go back to a virgin state ie no sings on jailbreak or modding, how do I do this? Will a restore through iTunes 7.4.2 do or is there anything else. I don' want to brick this should I need to get to an OTB fresh state for warranty. Been there, done that, luckily had a good guy at the genius bar and gave me another phone. Don't want to press my luck again.
