Dropped Iphone At The Worst Possible Spot

I dropped my iPhone on a metal bar on the corner of my bed. Unfortunately, the top part of the phone hit the bar and pretty much made a big dent by the power button on top. That button is now stuck and forever held down. I've tried to pry the button out with no luck. The phone did look brand new still until now.

I've had the phone since launch date and I do have AT&T service with the Apple data plan. I did however unlock the phone just for fun during 1.02. I recently used the Virginizer and updated to 1.11 and only did jailbreak for it. That is where my phone stands software wise.

I'm curious to what options I have at the moment.

Should I just call Apple and have them fix it through warranty and would they even fix it. Would the Apple store even do anything? Would it be free also? Do I even have any of these options since I unlocked it? If so... What should I do before I send it back to them?

forget it. your warranty is worthless now. your best bet is to get an cell phone tool kit and find replacement casing on ebay.

apple can fix it too, but it'll cost you 3 figures.

what did you use to attempt to bend it back?

your other option is to buy a replacement back for the phone... i think the black one was about $50 but i do not remember where to get it.

you don't think apple will fix it for free?

doesn't really look bad...

Physical damage is physical damage, and USUALLY won't be covered by a warranty as that has nothing to do with a defect. Just MHO.

bleh...

oh and the phone still functions fine. its just that the power button is held down and i cannot turn off the phone now ahhaha

go to lowes and buy some of there small prying tools. there are some small ones that i use for tinkering with some small computer parts.

they are really small and firm... it may be another shot

If I crash my car into a pole, you don't think the dealer will fix it for free?

I just don't understand the thought process of some people.

I mean I understand this is tragic, and I would be heart-broken if it happened to me, but I wouldn't expect others to pay for my clumsiness. Think about that!

If it's bad enough to impeded operation, then it's bad. And since it is damage done physically to it, the warranty doesn't apply for repair. Even less so considering you unlocked the phone.

There were stories early on about people coming in with smashed screens and as long as they pleasant and honest, the Apple reps would pulls a few strings and get the repair done free. But considering you've unlocked and jailbroken the phone too, that probably won't happen.

easy fix...done it already...buy the flex cable and the case since the electrical button detent is more than likely damaged too
