LG CU515 Software Installation?

I'm unclear on how the process of installing new java apps is supposed to work. I can move jar/jad files via my USB cable in mass storage mode, but then what? Nothing is really recognized. Is there a hidden menu I need to open?

Also, is there a way to delete the pictures and ringtones that come with this phone?

bump. this has been bugging me for about a month i can't figure it out for the life of me.

+1. Bitpim doesn't support the phone(as far as i know), and you can't just transfer java files to a folder and have the phone recognize them. The only way i've read about is using a web uploader like http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/, which i haven't tried because i don't have a data plan and don't want to chance paying per kb on transfers. I don't even know how data charges would pertain to transferring files like that so if anyone wants to chime in, please do.

I think the basic data plan is like 1 or 3 cents per kb

It's particularly irritating as it feels as though nobody owns this phone. There's no information on it anywhere.

yeah there is very little info on it, but most of everything is already open on it. Bitpim doesn't even have one of these, or any of the CUXXX series. Besides loading java games, i don't know what else i could do with it that i haven't already done.

If you open the test menu 277634#*# , you can of course set BT to transfer data which is useful, but there's also an option under 4) Port Setting --> 3) USB set for JAVA , which i clicked on, but i'm still at a loss as to what to do next

Did you install the drivers? I installed the CU500 drivers into my computer, and it recognized my CU515 (and mentioned it by name).

They're called: LGUSBModemDriver_Eng_Ver_4.5.exe

The bbpost where I got the info from mentions that the LG site was down for the author when he tried it, so he had to google for the file. It was down for me, too, but the URL is http://us.lge.com/support/download/..._AA_DR__3.jhtml

I too am trying to find out some software to interface to the phone for ringers / pics over USB. The drivers seem to work - but what software can I use to transfer stuff if BIT PIM won't do it?

Posted by: majikkan

Ringers and photos over usb are easy. You don't even need drivers for those. Put the phone into 'mass storage' mode from the connection menu in 'Options'.

Store graphics in a directory called Graphics. Done. (You don't need to do this, but the phone seems to like to put photos there).

Ringtones, you can probably put anywhere, as long as they're mp3. Go to Options, Audio and Ringtones, and choose the one you want. It's Java apps that are killing us.

Hi You guys seem to be gurus at this. I have a question about the Lg cu515. Is it at all possible to change the Alert message tones? I tried to look but it seems that i'm only allowed the default ones.
Hope you guys can help
Thankyou
cyb

-BUMP-

YES WTF is up with not being able to change alert tones?
The cu515 is lacking SO many configurable options it's making me crazy....

Although I believe we can overwrite the oem alerts by using uniqe
filenames......gotta research more brb!

If it like the other early LG phones java apps have to be install via the browser , downloaded from a wap site.

I tried this and still cannot access the phone. A message flashes on the phone screen: "Insert memory card for Mass Storage" and I cannot connect to the phone no matter what I do. I don't have a memory card. I just want to access the phone so that I might exchange a few numbers or changes ringers or what not.

I also have a Ubuntu system. I was under the impression phones are easier to access through Linux? I cannot access it through there either. Do I need a driver or something?

you can upload from some upload tools directly by using zip files and let it auto unarchive them. i dunno how that phone works, but try regular upload tools that allow zip format
