Centro as modem to land line ISP modembank

I only want a slow 14.4 PAM on a Centro for use with laptop.
My requirement is that I must use Sprint for their favorable monthly service and because most of my roaming will be CDMA Verizon territory)
I will not need broadband wireless service promoted by Sprint such as Powervision and
I am not wanting methods of using Sprint ISP or Powervision access under their radar of surveillance. I want only the tools for slow 14kbs phone as modem access to my separate land line based ISP for checking emails using a laptop and PAM.
On a trial Centro under a Sprint plan, I have already tried the "USBModem" software which claims to support Centro as a Windows modem device which is supposed to accomplish 14.4kbs to any land line based ISP modem...but it just returns an error code (which I have fuzzy recall was #637)
I am leaning to trade in PDA Centro because there appears to be too much effort by some forces to make ordinary PAM drivers hard to find ( or it is disabled for this model).
Is it disabled in the device or in the packet switching managed by Sprint?
Can anyone relate a successful experience using Centro as a PAM to a landline ISP?
I was forced to purchase an introductory 1 month of the Sprint broad band and it has been interesting but barely worth it to try out those services on a PDA although I may use a few of the PalmOS tools that are not web.
is it possible that presently being activated for Sprint broad band is actually interfering with my ability to have data packets converted into analog that will "handshake" with the landline ISP modem?

Its not really possible. this is the same problem as 'faxing using a fax machine/modem via voip'.
you can try some MNP10 protocols for cellular. but I have no experience in that.
