Iphone outage in my area anyone else affected

Today i havent been able to access data or send or recieve texts. I called att and i was told that there is a known issue and that the problem is that those features have been removed from iPhone accounts somehow and that they are working on getting it fixed and that it should be resloved in the next 24hrs. Im located in Peoria, Illinois

I had a problem earlier in the week where my visual voicemail wasn't coming in until about 24 hours after it was left. I called AT&T and they said it was a known outage and that it would be fixed within the next day. They gave me a $20 credit for the inconvenience.

I kept getting the "can't connect to server" error today at the airport (ATL). No email, no safari. Worked fine once I left work and got home. Phone and VVM worked fine, just no net

I had that happen yesterday - Safari couldn't find any webpages anywhere. I turned the phone off and on and that seemed to resolve the issue.

well when i log on my account it doesnt show a messaging plan or the data plan anymore and they cant just add it on anymore and it wont let me add it and they told me they are working on a fix at the moment i dont get it seems to be more in the central illinois area that ive seen people with issues on it

yes im here in the bay area you are not alone, i call att and they said it might take up to 7 days to get my service back. i cant send or receive sms when i try to use safari it tells me that i have no subscription to use it. WAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY ALL DAY

not sure that its a the problem with at&t I have o2 and I get the same problem.the iPhone tells me It can't connect to server switch it off and when I turn it back on its fine.also since update I can't connect to iTunes not sure if that's normal I guess I have to connect through my lap top and put m account details In again

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and I have not been able to use Safari, check mail, check stock or check weather for two days. I refuse to sit on hold with ATT and have them transfer me around and not tell me anything, so I came here to find out what was going on.

seems to be a problem with the prepaid users. this happened last time there was a firmware upgarde. when 1.1.2 was released, the DNS server went down. apple blamed att, and vice versa. it took 10 days to solve. it only affected the prepaid folks. now, everytime there is an update, i get scared what will happen to us prepaid folks. funny thing is, i have never upgraded, still have 1.1.1. maybe they are trying to torture us prepaid folks because we are not locked into a 2 year contract..

Att Is Now Claiming That Your Features Will Not Be Active Again Untill Your Next Payment. So You Are Out Of Luck Till Then I Want My Damn $40 Back If This Is True, One Person Said They Fixed It. How? Than I Should Have My Features Back Rite! Wrong! My Next Payment Is In 2weeks! The Problem With Prepaid Is You Already Pay Full For Your Bill Before You Can Use Them, So There Is Noway To Get Your Money Back For The Lost. I Betta Get The Next Dam Month Free.

I'm in San Jose, and I have the same outage problem. iPhone works as a phone, but no data, which means no email, no surfing, and anything else that involves downloading from the Edge system. If this happened on the last update, I didn't experience it. I am
a prepaid user, and I WANT my iPhone to work right!

Guys,

I had the same problem and talked to 5 different people until I got to a tech who re-enabled data as a non-unlimited package.
This means that everytime I download anything off EDGE my account is depleted, but I am getting reimbursted for those charges (already got $7 back today).

So if you really want data over EDGE and don't care about the few $$$ that you will get back anyway, tell them to re-enable data with a paid limit.

I see I'm not the only one. I just called and they had no idea what I was talking about and so I did a quick search and this explains everything. I will see if I can put in another call because my plan JUST restarted and I should have access to what I just paid for if they fixed the issue.

well its been two days going on three almost that service has been out. Atleast ive been credited for the 20 dollar data and 20 dollar text packages that i had. this had better get working soon or ill soon be moving back to vzw

Yes, I have this same problem as well. It also happened to me in Dec for the 1.1.2 update. I was down for 4 days.....

so when I call ATT should I ask for a certain dept right off the bat seeing how most of the people on there aren't going to know what Im talking about?

Does anyone know the REAL deal as to whats going on here? I have read three different things as to when it will/should be fixed.

I called AT&T, last night, and was told that it would take about 24 hours. This morning,
I had the edge data services. I used it to follow my trek to work on the maps. Worked OK, not totally accurate all the time, but with reason. However, when I got to work,
I got a charge notice that I had used about $10.00 on my data usage plan. I checked
with my email, and got another notice for a smaller charge. It looks like I was put
on a data plan rate to charge me for any data usage. I haven't called AT&T, but I
got really aggressive with them last night, Not that it did me any good. (Well, a $10
credit is what I got) However, that was eaten up by this morning's data connections.

I was told that this is happening to all prepaid users. I think it is somewhat strange,
that I didn't see this until right after I upgraded to 1.1.3. AT&T told me to call in
24 hours. Until they get me off the limited data plan, I'm going to be calling them
every 12 hours.

There is no way to get this to work on your account at all until you make a new payment. That is the new word with att I had already recieved a credit for my full months service and another rep gave me 40 dollars today for my data and text not knowing that i already was refunded the previous amount and i just made another payment

Ok, this is what I don't understand. Why would making a payment determine if my phone is going to work or not?

To me, @ $59.99/mo it appears I have way more then enough to cover whatever is going on @ my credit being $190+. Also, at the bottom, it still is listing my iphone pyp data plan on there.

GOD I HATE ATT!!!!! Exact reason why I now have to carry two devices cause there was no way in hell I was giving that company my primary cell account. Nice servers guys why the hell can they not support their customer load?

your text plan shows as inactive and i didnt see the media net unlimited on your account i see the iphone pyp but that really doesnt do anything without the media net unlim on there as well

i see it shows you have the iphone pyp plan active you need to call them and tell them to credit you for the incovience and to get the media net unlim on the account and active and your text active as well but youwill have to make a payment they will refund you though your payment if you make it they just need a payment in their system to reactivate the features

#1 - after 6 months did the plan just change magically overnight?

and

#2 - I still dont understand make a payment. I have 190 bucks credit. Do they need like a payment for $1 or what?

ive also had the phone for about as long as you have. here are the features that i have had the whole entire time

MEdiaNet Unlimited active unlimited 01/17/2008 -
iPhone PYP Data Plan active unlimited 09/23/2007 -
Messaging Unlimited active unlimited 01/17/2008


the dates on there show the date that those features became active my iphone pyp never was removed but the other two were and they were re added today i had about 180 and some change on my account and the next payment wasnt even due till the 27th but in order for me to get service i had to make another payment to get those two features put back on. On Tuesday early in the morning the people whom had the iphone those features were dropped off peoples account from some unknown reason. They dont know why or they just arent telling anyone. But its stupid to have to make another payment when your account balance is as high as yours and mine but thats the only thing that will get it working. Ive been talking to them over the phone for two days until i was told to make another payment and that will fix it. Then they just refunded that payment to me but to make the features active a new payment has to come in regardless of how much money is on the account. Its real stupid i know, They have gave me alot of credits regarding this as well so im fine with it.

sorry and by payment i mean they want whatever your rate plan you have so if yours is the 39.99 you pay that plus the 20 for data and i have unlim text so i paid 20 for that so i had to pay like 88 and change with tax to get it back on

Yesterday, every few minutes I would be notified on my phone of a charge...at one point it chrged me 34.95 for internet connection when I hadn't been on the internet at all that morning. With this happen, soon, all my prepaid dollars were exhausted and I couldn't make or receive any calls, go on the internet, text, message, nothing. So I added another $50 to the account (because I need to make calls) and then I called ATT. At first the young lady on at ATT told me that I had gone over my data limited, so I asked, well ok, so how can I go over my limit when I have unlimited data. Oh, she say, please hold.

She came back a few minutes later and told me that there was a problem with the GPRS and that they were working on it, she stated that I should check again in 24 hours and everything should be ok. Ya, you guessed it, everything is not ok.

You know that $50 bucks I put on the phone, well, it's down to 2.25 now and I'm in danger of losing my service again. Also, none of the erroneous charges have been reversed.

If this hasn't been taken care of by this afternoon, I will contacting ATT and raising unholy hell. I want all of the erroneous charges reversed, the balance I had before all the problem put back, my $50 payments put back and little something extra for all of my trouble. What good is a phone, let alone an iphone, if you can't use it. What if something had happened to a family member or friend and I couldn't be reached because of ATT's screw up.

Oh there is going to be hell to pay ATT, get your best person on the line, because I'm coming for you.

i just got off the phone with ATT regarding the GPRS problem they had on January 17th. All of my charges from that day have been reversed and two $25.00 payments, which were depleted due to their problem, have been credited back to my account. Christy at ATT was wonderful and she gave me no hassle at all, just took care of the problem. My faith, for the time being anyway, has been restored in ATT. I'm sure that will change soon though lol

There was a gophone PYP data outage roughly 1-2 months ago that affected many people with the unlimited MediaNet option. Lasted over a week. Sounds similar.
