Hello all !

II can finally confirm about iPhone 1.1.3 unlocked ok at 8:30PM 15/01/2008 by our team and many help from GeoHot from US, Imth from VN, and some experts about iPhone from Hackint0sh forum ! Great thanks to those awesome guys.

This method is hardware method. So have to open phone.

Status now is:
- Unlock the iPhone with firmware 1.1.3 (baseband 4.03.13)
- Downgrade the phone to 1.1.2 then jailbreak it for normally using.
- Phone will work at: firmware 1.1.2 and baseband 4.03.13.

We are still researching on Unlock and keep the firmware 1.1.3 (mean jailbreak 1.1.3) ...

Will upload here some proof clip.

Thanks.

This just goes to show that great progress has already been made. They are currently working on the much needed software unlock.

Posted by: GeeK.dLL

i find it fishy that geohot's didnt write about it yet on his blog.
Also the picture shows 1.1.3 I thought you had to be on 1.1.2.
and www.gsm.com.vn is not the known dev team site

Im awaiting the video clip proof.

Ok so they used a OTB 1.1.2 iPhone updated to 1.1.3 then downgraded back to 1.1.1 then update to 1.1.2 then unlocked the baseband there and updated back to 1.1.3 then took the picture. But how did they activate? Or did they? They might of just done the *#307# trick if that still works on 1.1.3?

Posted by: Airkat

That's great. You don't get the 1.1.3 features I'd assume, but still a good step.

Posted by: Ryan1524

Wait, does this mean 1.1.3 OTB can be used as 1.1.2 Unlocked, or does it mean 1.1.3 can be used with ANY carrier? I'm a little confused. I thought it's simply downgrading to 1.1.2 in order ot make the iPhone usable, but then the guy has a screenshot of 1.1.3 with a non ATT carrier.

Posted by: Astroboy-ATM

i'm with GeeK. seems fishy.

Posted by: tks989

these guys are reliable if you're familiar with the hackint0sh community. its only a hardware unlock however. Hotz is a contributor along with other people. He barley updates his blog anyway.

Your still not convinced even when tamobile received help from the person who provided the first ever hardware unlock solution?.

Maybe you need a "certain" dev team prove it to you for convincing.

or somehow the carrier edit app .. wasn't overwritten in 1.1.3

Posted by: dhendriksen

All he did was change his carrier logo with make it mine, then update his phone. The carrier logo stays changed with the update. This proves NOTHING!

+1

And after unlocking iphones with GeeK's tutorials, I will not trust anyone else right now. Considering what we do with iphones voids our warranty I am going to minimize the possibility of brickin my iphone as much as possible.

Posted by: bomr2409

the hardware unlock is for real guys...now we are just waiting for them to find a software unlock and explain the details regarding 1.1.2 OTB vs. 1.1.3 OTB...

Posted by: thegoldenhand

just noticed a trend that signals a software unlock is coming out soon for 1.1.2 OTB. the prices for the next sim/turbo sim on ebay has gone down. auctions are going really slow. i think it's time to start hoarding the 1.1.2 OTB before they re-flash all of them to 1.1.3.

Posted by: lil_shortys_

so now i just wait for tutorial.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, that it instructions for the "hack" say that after upgrading to 1.1.3, the phone is downgraded to 1.1.2 and then "jailbroken"....but how is this possible...from what I have read...isn't it impossible to downgrade to a lesser firmware verison, once you have upgraded to 1.1.3?

A couple things. First, the hardware unlock method is the one used in August by Geohot. You can view the method by reading his blog. It was outlined in great detail. It's the one that requires opening the phone, using solder or the needle. You don't have the 1.1.3 secpack so no one here can verify this without some sort of download.

Next, there are reasons to suspect this to be false. I'm not saying it is a hoax, but it could be, and the proof picture only causes me to suspect it even more.

When someone makes a claim of something, the proof they offer should back that claim. When the proof is suspect, then the claim should be questioned. In this case, let's examine the claim and the proof.

The claim: 1.1.3 was unlocked by *downgrading* to 1.1.2 then performing a hardware unlock. Ok this, in itself is not hard to believe. So then we are offered proof. What should we see in the proof? We should see a phone on 1.1.2 FW with a valid TMobile logo. We should see the 4.13 modem firmware in the about screen with the 1.1.2 OS.

The proof picture uploaded does not show this. Instead, it shows a 1.1.3 phone with a "fake" logo that says "MOBILE" in all caps. We see the 4.13 bootloader, but this is expected of any upgraded 1.1.3 phone unlocked or not. There is no reason to think that this picture came from an unlocked phone. We already know based on Nate True's presentations that the "make it mine" logo changer will resync after an update to 1.1.3. So what we see here is likely just a phone, on AT&T with make it mine, upgraded to 1.1.3. There is nothing in the proof picture that shows it has actually been unlocked. Furthermore, the proof picture actually contradicts the data given by the claim - that the phone will be on 1.1.2 with baseband from 1.1.3. If the picture was, indeed, to support the claim, we would see a 1.1.2 phone, 4.13 baseband, and an unmodified logo with TMobile. Why would anyone modify the logo and use that as proof of an unlocked phone? After all, the main proof that a phone is unlocked has always been a screenshot of the carrier logo.

If the proof of the claim is suspect, we should therefore, question the claim. One more point. Geohot maintains a blog. If this were true, it would be huge news and would certainly warrant Geohot to update his own blog with this major step that he accomplished, right? Then why is it not here: http://www.geohotblog.com/

Something's not right. The claim was more believable before the picture was uploaded. With the picture, I tend to disbelieve it is valid.

Quoted from _BigBoss_

Couldnt of said it any better then BigBoss. Next time they need to use a better picture as proof. Even dough I now know this unlock is real. Congrats to all people who were in involved in this its a great accomplishment.

if you bothered to read you would see that this was a joined effort between Vietnam devs, and USA devs like George Hotz.

I kind of feel insulted by that comment. The more people helping on unlocking, the better.

u must be an idiot.

First off. the Vietnam war is when North and South Vietnam got into a civil war. US, tried to be a big brother and helped the South. Thousands of US solders got killed for no reason so they backed out of the war. So there wasnt much conflict with Vietnam. as much as Korea or Iraq.

Second, most hackers come from middle Africa. Hackers who wire money and such.

My point is...Dood....dont say ***** without thinking.

Why would you make such a statement?

Keep in mind here on the net we are all one color - one race - we are 000's and 111's we are judged by the content of our character, which is shown through the words we speak.

You shouldn't take the speck of wood out of someone else's eye when you have a 2x4 in your own.

How can you say this? Everyone here has the same common interest and goal. If you are suggesting that somehow the Vietnamese are harboring some old hate from a war (that you obviously do not even come close to comprehending or understanding) and are getting back at us (which is actually the entire world, as this is not US only information) by providing false information on iPhone hacking - you're down right crazy. That is the stupidest statement I have heard in a long time. You really need to grow up. When I hear things like this the word racist prick comes to mind, but I would not be out calling you names or anything.

What does that have to do with anything? Thats why other countries don't like Americans is because of people like you.
