LG Shine TU720 - Ringtones above 300kb

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

hey, i was checking the replies from my youtube video and someone posted how to get ringtones to be over 300kb.. its kinda of a hassle tho

basically u still need a file under 300kb to start with... for our example it will be ringtone.mp3

after you've uploaded it through bitpim using windsorsean's method, you set it as your current ringtone

now get the ringtone you really want that is over 300kb, and name it as the same name as the ringtone u uploaded into your phone... as in our example: ringtone.mp3

so in short:
1) upload file x which is under 300kb
2) set file x as ringtone
3) get file y and rename it to the same name as file x and upload to phone

it works, i tried it.. hope this helps =)

do u use bit to upload it as well> just overwrite it?

Posted by: aah_tree

i am giving that a try right now.

does this applies to every single ringtone or just 1, and once u switch to another ringtone, you wont be able to use it anymore

Great it works thanks...
A+++++

i just use the site ventones to make ringtones for free

i just use the site ventones to make ringtones for free but they limit it by 20 seconds

it may be worth noting at step 3, you are overwriting the "smaller than 300kb" file with a "larger than 300kb" file

works. thanks for posting this =)

btw does anyone know how to make incoming calls ring longer? cause by 30 seconds, my phone goes to voice mail

that is totally not what he was asking for... lolz
wouldnt there be a option to set it in ur actual voicemail menu (the menu u get when u call ur voicemail)
i don't know, because i got free voicemail for a month last month and mine ringed quiet a while before going into VM, it rarely goes into VM for me...

i would think it has more to do with Roger's network rather then your phone

Hey, just tried it with a full, 5 minute song 12MB file, and it worked! haha

stupid for something that long, but i just wanted to test it out.

very cool, and thank you for that awesomeness

once you change the ringtone you loose the ability to set it as a ringtone again... kinda sucks, but i'm going to test to see if you can set individual ring id's and modify them.

I guess you can really just call the main tone Ringtone1.mp3 and just update it whenever you want somting new... hmm

Uh, that tutorial says that BitPim works for CDMA devices, but does it work for GSM phones too? Please tell me if I'm being a n00b and it doesn't matter, but my CU720 isn't CDMA, and the 300kb limit is sooo stupid, and I want to change from the lame ringtones they gave me. Thanks.

Yes, set BitPim to use LG-VX8700 and set the CU720 USB connection mode to DATA. Then you can browse the CU720 "filesystem" in BitPim.
