When is 3G going to be expanded to mirror VZW's EVDO footprint here in Southern California? I know they have lots of cell sites to upgrade, but I wonder if they even plan to push 3G outside the denser urban markets?
My parents are AT&T customers and they live just north of the Cajon Pass off of the 15 FWY (zip 92344) and I would like to get them 3G capable phones so they could enjoy potentially better voice quality. (They could care less about data). My mom fell in love with the Moto v9 she saw at Best Buy and I wanted to get her that one.
On a more selfish note, I'd like to have 3G coverage when I visit them using my SW 881.

3G is in north/east of Los Angeles - its up in Palmdale/Lancaster in the high desert.
I don't know what the timeframe is for it to either
a) buildout from Palmdale/Lancaster direction.
b) buldout from Ontario direction
Hesperia is much more east than north of L.A.
I'm almost directly north of L.A. in Santa Clarita.

True. The coverage has gotten much better up there especially indoors since the intro to 850 MHz. The voice quality on their phones when I talk to them just sounds really washed out and faded (underwater).
I tested a v9 where I live and the voice quality was great using 3G.

Intro into 850? 850MHz has been around for quite sometime in So-Cal on GSM.
