Formatting a 4GB micro card

Hi all
Would any one of you know: first of all does the RAZR V3T support a 4 GB micro card and if so why can't I format it with the phone?
I was able to do it with my pc in FAT32 format but the phone fails to format it. I had a 1GB which worked fine but I want to put a 4 GB instead in my phone. The card is a SanDisk that came with the usb connector. Also I noticed that the phone is very slow to initialize and operate with this card in.
Thanks

Give them a call I just called Sandisk to find out that my phone doesn't support a 4 gb card so I'm stuck with a 4gb card that I can't use anymore

there are ways around it, research on the forums and you'll find a way around that. my i760 will now read one.

The V3T is *only* able to deal with 1G mem cards. There are threads about it being able to do more but you are looking at flashing the phone with a new OS and all consenquences that goes with it.

The V3T should be able to take a 2GB microSD card, but only FAT16 formatted. Cards with the micorSDHC (4GB and larger) require the software to support SDHC cards. This is true with existing card readers, not just phones. Check out Wikipedia.

Why not format the card on the phone instead of the PC like you do with a digital camera?

I Tried and it doesn't want to format it on the phone just the pc, by the way do I install the software in the phone for SDHC card or format it differently on the pc?

I have been having the same problem. Let me know if you figure it out. I have a A-Data 4gb Micro SD sdhc and when I try to format it on my phone it says formating fail "try again". My Card readers doesnt even read the card.

As stated above, the phone must support SDHC cards in order to recognize anything 4GB and larger. None of the V3 GSM phones with microSD adapters support anything larger than 2GB. Some older models only support up to 1GB but if you find a monsterpack from a newer SW, it should have support for 2GB.

This is true for card readers as well. My Dell laptop will not recognize an SDHC card with the built in reader.

If you go to SanDisk's website and pull up microSD cards, they have a compatibility chart listing what size cards are supported by each manufacturer.
