My Review of the Voyager

Here is my 2nd review for HOFO!

In the Northeast VZW allows store personell to check out some devices for product familiarity, and I have taken the Voyager (here out known and the 10k) on a number of occasions, and I will base this review on what I have noticed with the device.

Upon opening of the box, I noticed that the 10k is a very cool looking phone. very sparce front, only 3 buttons, (Send, End, and Clear). The front screen is very very large, one of the biggest VZW has offered on a non-pda phone.

Initial Impression:
WOW! What a cool toy! Sits flat on the desk when you sit it down, like the 9800 did. Which is one thing I hated about the enV.
In the box was the phone, battery, USB cable, user guide, FAQ guide, and the charger.

Call Performance:
I havent used the 10k to do many calls, so I wont go to in depth in this. I have owned many previous LG phones, from the 3200, to the 9900. I can only assume it performs in a similar fashion.

Looks:
This is one of those WOW devices. I equate the WOW factor to phones like the following: v70, v80, sidekick family, v200, V9M, etc. It is a very pillar like phone, in the sence that it is very simple on the exterior. Upon opening the flip, you will see a very expansive keypad, that has larger buttons than the enV, and the keypad is a little simpler, an easy to use directional pad, with an adequate OK key that doubles as the menu key. The interior Send and End keys are just above the D-Pad and are easy to use. The displays on this phone are awesome. Very large, easy to see in all lighting conditions I have used it in. I have not used it much in direct sunlight.

SMS, MMS, and Text Entry:
With the built in QWERTY keypad on the interior, entering text is quite easy. The keypad on the exterior flip, is a little difficult to use, as it is just too different from other 12-key keypads that i have used in the past to make it easy to use. You can however use LG's Word predictive text on the outside flip, and that makes life a little easier. I havent maxed out the inbox yet, but im workin on it.

Pictures:
The 10k has a 2.0 megapixel camera, but I havent found anything interesting enough for me to take a pic of yet with it. I can only assume it is on par with the enV, which many enV users say is quite good.

Enhanced Features:
Mobile Email, in a word, ROCKS! Easy to use, was easy as pie to set up my Gmail on, and pulls my email whenever I ask for it. VZ Nav will work with the phone closed, which is nice. I bluetoothed all my contacts from my Gleam to the 10k so again, I didnt bother with Backup Assistant.

Battery Life:
I have been listening to music on the 10k for the last hour and the battery hasnt flinched. I imagine the battery kicks butt on this phone. I will edit my review in a couple of days with an update on this.

Bluetooth:
As previously mentioned, I used BT to get my contacts form my Gleam to the 10k. Worked flawlessly, and didnt take to long to get my 200 some contacts from phone A to phone B. As stated in my Gleam review, I use Stereo BT alot, and it took a few tries to get my S9 to pair, why, I dont know. My Plantronics 655 worked like a charm. One thing I can't stand about bluetooth on this phone, is when I have a headset connected, no matter what I change in the keypad sound settings, the phone will transmit the keypad sounds to my headset.

MISC:
Awesome phone. I would recommend that you turn off the vibrate feature for the touch screen, I think this makes the phone feel cheap, which anyone who bought one will tell you it certainly is not.

Accessories I have for the 10k:
4GB Sandisk T-flash - with SDHC card reader
USB Cable
Motorola S9 stereo bt
Plantronics 655 mono BT

Thanks again for your time!

Ben

BTW, havent used QPST on this phone, not too worried about it.
