Webclips without 1.1.3

How can I make custom icons, much like webclips without upgrading? I'm talking a 3rd party way. I'm unlocked and have full access to my phone, so that's not an issue.

I know it's "possible" because I have a custom Digg icon which I download from installer.app.

Anyone have a tutorial on where these icons are stored, how to replace, add links, etc..?

Yeah, which I guess that's why Apple made what I'm looking for in 1.1.3? Must be stupid if they made it an advertised feature, huh?

since when is opening up howard forums and not replying when you're not helping too much work?

anyway, good luck with THAT.

I've been looking for the same thing for Google Calendar so I can hide the native calendar icon since its basically useless for me. There is a way that requires you to use SSH and FTP in which i've stayed away from and have been waiting for something to show up on installer. I don't recall where I saw the SSH instructions but i'm sure if you search around the hack sites you'll find something.

That site didn't work well for me. It would download the .app file, but it would be a file and not a folder and wouldn't work. Weird.

I went about doing it the longer way and making my own .app folder adding in my own custom icon.png and Default.png and editing the Info.plist manual to go to the URL I wanted. You also need to grab the Embark file from another folder in your Applications folder.

Once you have the folder setup with everything as you want it, I uploaded the folder to the Applications folder on my iPhone using WinSCP, set the needed permissions to 755 and it worked perfectly. I can arrange the icons, of course, using customize.

Bah, who NEEDS 1.1.3?
