SIM card problems Unlocking...

My phone is currently locked to a network from Australia called Planet 3. the moment I put in a SIM card from any other network, a screen comes up on the phone which says SIM card not valid. I cant exit out of the screen when this happens, even hitting any and all of the buttons. I can still punch numbers into the keypad, and even do the NOKIA *#0000# function, which still works bringing up the current software version. Other than that, i cant get the software updater to recognize the phone with any SIM card in. Without one, the functions of the phone work fine (except the calling of course), and the software updater and flash software are able to establish contact with the phone. Any idea how to get around this? NOKIA N73 phone...thanks.
