i was thinking about buying a k850i, and honestly (to those who actually own one), would you recommend it, or say its not worth it.

You know what.. there are many K850i review threads already posted. have you checked there yet?

Posted by: rafoolik

ya, but i just wanted to know overall, if owners of k850 are happy with phone, because im always getting mixed reviews

i just got the K850i today and i must say it does take some time to get used to if your coming up from the old SEs. although i had a K800i i just kept on making mistakes pressing the touch keys and i find that texting with this phone not very comfortable and easy to make mistakes but beside those i think this phone is good

I personally loved mine for about two months, until the soft keys started giving me issues. They started to not respond to touch. Others have complained about the same thing. I used compressed air to clean it up a bit and it seems to be working ok now. I'm thinking I should've went with the n82 though, even though I still like the phone...

damn ide be really pissed if that happened to me, crap, now i dont know if i should get it

I have only had it for a week, but I have a few friends who have been using it for months. One of them is like me, SE fanatic, and one is actually a former Nokia user, and all of us agree that its a great phone, takes getting used to, and if you dont have a proper case you will be cleaning it every chance you get, its a fingerprint magnet!

I dont regret my decision, and feel the $480 i paid (tax free) for it was well worth it

i have one and like it, but not as much as i thought i would. i remember when i got the k790 i loved it (and kept it for a whole year). i thought the same thing would happen with the k850, but it hasn't. looking at selling it pretty soon. it's a great phone, don't get me wrong, i just want something else.

I'm with you on this one Patrickkc, my previous phones are k800 and w850, both of them operates differently than the K850. Touch button is sometime ultra sensitive and times no reaction. Some file gets set in different folders than W850, for example: File manager was moved from the main menu to the submenu under organizer, I have to set a short cut before I forget the destination. It's wasting time to learn/understand this new interface all over again. It's been 2 weeks now and it's working better, but still not great compare to K800. Hope this help.

you are aware that the k850 is based on a totally new UI platform (A200), right? that's why things are different. many parts of it appear the same from SE's old A100 platform, but it's actually more in-line with nokia's s40 offering.

that said, i've been using SE's since the t68 and i don't understand how it could possibly take you more than two weeks to adjust to the menu changes if you've used SE's in the past.

Thank you for pointing that out, I do notice the interface is a slightly different than my previous S.E. just didn't know which platform they're using. First, I've to state my K850 is "Tim" branded (Europe version, I suppose). Lets just say the touch button is pretty difficult to work with, have to put the right amount of pressure to activate, the "back" button is gone, the usual left right softkey layout with short cut / cancel button below, has changed positions. The "call" and "hang up" button is quite small to press (maybe just me), also, in home screen, the right soft key is set for carriers internet shortcut and that's annoying everytime I accidentally press it (I do have the same problem with my k800 handset tho, just upset they didn't fix it). Even now, I still try to press the touch button (the previous soft key position) to answer a call when there's a dedicated answer button (not use to yet). File manager folder (use to be a sub menu) moved under organizer which took me a while to find it and I have to create a short cut for it, alarm clock have it's own icon stand alone in the menu which is weird and waste a useful spot. I got use to the key pad layout (well, I have to), just not comfortable and not as easy access compare to the previous model, IMO.

Another issue I didn't mention previously was the touch buttons, may be just me, but almost every time when I end the call, the screen is at the text message page and ready to send a message to the first person of my contact, why? The touch buttons are way too sensitive, I end up accidentally brows the menu and end up somewhere. They need to be either disable or limit to certain access while the phone is in use of calling. Is it just me or ever happen to any of you?

Posted by: Yuujin

ya thats true. the touch buttons are too sensitive especially during calls. but gotta get use to it. navigating is a bit different. other than that, design is great, camera is great, media player is pretty good!

Posted by: jibkid

I find the touch buttons are not as sensitive as they used to be, well at least since i updated my firmware....

I have heard many bad things about the touch buttons and buggy firmware. And plus, for a little more cash you can get a n82 which has many more features.

Selling it? What price range? I'm in Chicago and could do an in person exchange if you're not too far.
