For Tilt Owners Only !!

Smt 5600 owner considering replacing what has been a very reliable phone. so my HTC experience thus far has been quite positive.

given the number of negative reviews about the Tilt, many probably due to WM6 issues, if you were in the market now would you still buy the Tilt again, or recommend something else? Reports of locking screens and sluggish performance are a turn off.

the Iphone falls short despite the glitzy interface as it lacks alot of features for the price.

Crackberry may be calling me but it'd be great to have a larger screen and the ATT Curve doesn't have WIFI.

my criteria would be:

push email
WIFI
BT
ability to view/edit office documents
memory slot
ability to play audio files. I like to listen to audio books during the commute to work

I've looked at the Nokia N95 but am unsure whether working with Office docs in a Symbian environment would be disatisfying.

I'm tempted to keep the 5600 and just look at pda's for the rest but there's a good chance pds's are going the way of the dinosaur.

maybe I'm just fantasizing about the perfect device that doesn't exist.

what are your recommendations?

Negative reviews? I have seen much more positive than negative.

I'd buy it again!

Its great. The only problem is it has trouble with graphic card intensive things because HTC never included the graphics driver!
Learn about that here http://www.htcclassaction.org/
It looks like they may be providing an update which includes the drivers, so that will fix any of those problems!

Sold mine. I would only buy it again if there was a software update released from HTC for the video performance issues. Hardware wise I liked it, but the camera and video playback is really really bad.

I replaced mine with a Motorola Q9h. No touch screen, no wifi, and its a smartphone, but it was $200 less and performs much much better.

I have the same criteria as you. I would buy another again in a heartbeat. Are there things to improve - yes but for my needs I can live with and enjoy the Tilt for now.

I've owned 3 "crackberry's" and before ALSO had the SMT5600 and MPX200. I've had my TILT for a couple of days now and I love it. WM6 has some "minor" issues, but I'm learning to live with them. My Blackberry 8800 and Curve are sitting on the counter right now. It's the TILT for me!!!

well, I live in Cleveland and the area here is H or 3G so I am enjoying this fast speed, this past weekend I drove from here to DC, on the way there, I was using LiveSearch GPS to give me direction, while also using it as a cell, and also checking email, no problem whatsoever.

in PA, the retrieval of map and email was slow, because it was mostly E network.

I had my Tilt pluged to the car charger so it wouldn't drain the battery (I've done without battery day before from 8am till 8pm, email, calling people, etc, and it only went down like 80% so I am a happy camper).

When in DC, the Tilt helped me to get where we needed to go (we got lost a few times), and heading back home, Tilt did a good job as well.

I also had TrackMe on so my friends back here in town can make sure they know where we at, in case of an accident due to the weather, so we can get rescued... (precautions), all is well.

In DC, the Tilt was used with it's own Internet Sharing program so I can use it to check email with my laptop, no problem either.

My overal experience, as this was the first time I've used it heavily is that the Tilt works well and I'm happy with it.

Also, during my visit to DC, I had 2 friends to came out and visited me there, and they both have iphones, so of course, we were comparing stuff, they just love the Tilt and felt a bit annoyed that the Tilt is much 'interesting', although I do have to say, iPhone is slick and I LOVE their media stuff...

(it's funny that my iphone's friend keep saying "so, does your Tilt do this? and this? and this?" and my responses was yes, yes yes, then oh, I got GPS, 3G speed, wi-fi, etc.... gotta look at their faces)

Would I get another one? definetely. And I've tried to talk my friends to get it too.

I would definitely purchase again. I have had the tilt for 2 months now & only problems I have had were due to user error. I was new to ppc's & I learned it's use by this site. The phone reception is great. I use livesearch extensively & have not been disappointed. I also have to use office mobile quite a bit as I'm a realtor & it works great considering the small size. My email hasn't been a problem, both personal & professional, as I have it check every 15 min. I also appreciate the sliding keyboard for texts. imho you can't do better right now than the tilt. good luck.

Not a chance. For the price, it's slow as hell. If you are only going to be using it for business purposes and can deal with the lag, go ahead. If you want good performance, I'm not sure it'll be up to the latest Blackberry's. Your choice, but I definitely wouldn't buy it again.
