Hello, I just purchased a new Pantech Duo and am enjoying it so far. Only problem is my PC is not recognizing it as a device. I installed and reinstalled the software that came with the phone (microsoft activesync) and cant figure it out.
When i plug the phone into my PC's USB jack windows says "USB Device Not Recognized." I also have gone into the connection settings of Activesync and made sure the "Use USB connections" box is checked, and tryed finding the device with ActiveSync's connect button. I have tried both on Vista and Windows XP, before and after reinstalling the software and rebooting both the phone and computer and am starting to get frustrated.
Has anyone had any problems with their phone and syncing it to the pc? any ideas?

I've synced it with two computers and have not had a problem. I wish I could be some help.
Maybe if you try going to Microsoft and see if there is a later version of Activesycn.

i spent a half hour on the phone with pantech tech support. The guy i talked to told me its never been the phones fault when this happens, its always something with the pc. He ended up logging into my computer and checked some settings and what not, coldnt figure it out. Now a level 2 tech should be calling me back.

I have to say I'm very surprised by that level of survice. I would have expected them to say it is not the phone's falut so see you later.

I mean, I have the same problem with my pantech duo and active sync.
My pda still syncs up correctly but not my phone...
My Pc recognizes the phone because I have installed the pantech drivers but do I have to spend the better part of the day connecting/disconnecting the phone so active sync recognizes it? that's scewed up!

I don't know if this is your problem or not, but I flashed my Duo last night with the software update and after that I was not able to sync with either of the computes I had before. After about 20 minutes of pulling my hair out, loading drivers, uninstalling activesync and reinstalling. I read the final instruction of the update. It said something about checking to see that the Modem Link was deactivated. You can find this setting under Settings/Connections/Modem Link. The update turned the Modem Link active, which prevented the phone from syncing. I turned it off and it synced right up. I would suggest checking this setting to see that it is inactive.

I had the same problem and its not covered by AT&T. But i tried everything to get it to work, even tried other computers and reloading the software. But luckily for me right when i got off the phone with AT&T my phone wouldn't dial or receive calls so they sent me a new one.

Hi,
yep it was the modem that was blocking everything...
I finally called pantech yesterday after a week of pulling my hair and it took a whole 30 seconds for the guy to figure it out...
Now everything works perfectly
love it
