Hi everyone,

I just wanted to get any opinions on upgrading the firmware.
Is it worth it for me to upgrade my firmware to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2?

Also what version of iTunes is the best to use for 1.0.2, I did a search but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

A lot of people tend to jump onto any available firmware "upgrade" without fully understanding the consequences of doing so. I generally go by the old Chinese wisdom of "if it's not broken don't fix it". If you're happy with your iPhone the way it is, you probably shouldn't touch it.

That said, 1.1.1 will give you the iTunes Music Store, which allows you to purchase and download music directly to your iPhone, without connecting to a computer. 1.1.3 adds the Locate feature to Google Maps and allows multiple simultaneous SMS recipients. There's also a few minor enhancements and bug fixes with each new version. A more complete list can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iphone#Software_updates

I hopped up to 1.1.2 and to my knowledge its the most stable of the firmware versions not including 1.1.3. I haven't tried that yet nor do I intend to be the sacrificial lamb until we're guaranteed a stable working unlockable upgrade...anyhow

1.1.1 also added the voice speaker upgrade in volume while 1.1.2 seemed to smoothen out my voice quality and overall system speed. Since the clock was bumped up from 400 to 412 mhz out of the availible 600 Mhz. The system bus was bumped up a bit too.

Just remember to revirginize before restoring to 1.1.1, appsnap jailbreak, ok to prep 1.1.2 then "upgrade" to 1.1.2 not "restore" otherwise you'll have to rinse and repeat which = another wasted hour or so of your life lol

once you're up and running on 1.1.2, do the 1.1.2 jailbreak from this site's faq then finally run anysim 1.2 the 1.1.2 version and you're home free

What exactly is the difference between the "Upgrade" and "Restore" options in iTunes? Does Restore not give you the latest firmware, and instead just restores (re-installs) whatever version you're currently running?
