Instaler wont Open HELP!

hello

i installed pocket guitar today on my iphone and now when i try to open up the installer app, it just looks like it is about to load an then closes. It worked fine until the install of the pocket guitar.

How to fix this? My phone is unlocked so doing a restore may give me problems and be a big headache

Hey Bruno,

What firmware are you at? You might be better off just restoring and jailbreaking the thing - I don't think many of us here has that software installed, so troubleshooting would be pretty hard.

also tried to update to the new installer right after pocketguitar, and now it wont open

I haven't tried Pocket Guitar yet - I'm going to say just do a restore and jailbreak - you can go to 1.1.2 while you're at it

It won't brick your phone, but you'll have to go through the process of re-unlocking and jailbreaking your phone again. You'll end up with a nice clean phone though

.

As for texts, I'm not sure if iTunes backs those up for you, but you can try the iTunes backup - it will back up all your contacts and such though...

i thought that if i upgraded while i used anysim, the phone would brick?

I don't ind the jail breaking unlocking, it is easy to do. Done about 50+ so far

make sure you have ssh open installed before you connnect with winscp

user name alpine if you have 1.1.1

go to application directory and remove it manually it should fix your problem

bruno, the easiest method would be to install

new installer on top of your installed one.

you can use ibricker and go to browse application and download from there .

Your phone WILL NOT brick.

Why would you listen to me tell you that, when you didn't listen to the others? It kills me when people ask for advice, and then argue it as if they are the expert and aren't interested in other peoples opinions.

sorry, i did not argue, just making sure before i ruin my $400 phone.

I deleted pocketguitar through ibrikr put i still cant open installer, so should i just restore

as well, would backing up the phone through itunes allow it to keep the sms, or would copying the sms from /var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db allow me to copy it back to the phone and keep my sms?

Just sync the phone with iTunes and it will back up all your sms and that type of stuff. The only thing I noticed it does not sync is your photos, and but I heard it also does that now.

Just update to 1.1.2, then follow the guide of your choice to end up back at an unlocked/jailbroken 1.1.2! IT'S EASY!

found the firmware 1.1.2, restored iphone to it

can i use the same method of calling a number way or will that not work with 1.1.2

thats not good news, i just updated to 1.1.2

will i just need to go back to 1.1.1 or is there going to be way more to it than that?
also, how can i install installer, i cant use the jailbreakme.com since its for 1.1.1 only

i jsut did that, loaded 1.1.1, now i did the apspnap jailbreak and have no service on the phone

dunno what to do now, have it in 1.1.1, with no service

basically what you need to do now is to run anySIM 1.2.1 (while in 1.1.1), after that, run oktoprep, and then upgrade to 1.1.2.

After you upgrade, download the 1.1.2 jailbreak and run it. Then you'll be unlocked and jailbroken at 1.1.2.

why do i have no service tho, i am using a registered att sim card right now, so in 1.1.1, i should be getting service

so in 1.1.1, i dont have a foreign simcard to do anysim with tho

You have no service because you've gone to 1.1.2 already - your baseband is 4.02, which doesn't work with 1.1.1

1) download AnySIM 1.2.1 - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU GET THIS VERSION
2) Install Oktoprep
3) Upgrade back to 1.1.2
4) Run Jailbreak Package from Conceited Software

installer pxl file use iit brickr and install it, upgrade it to newer version
turn wifi on.

go to source in installer

edit, add kmasterforums.com/iphone, hit ok, wait till completes , refresh it

you should see in all application

folder will be there kmaster unlock tools

it has basebande downgrade 04.02, 13 use that. Once it completed then run
anySim for 1.1.2u

it should fix your problem

So far, i have been back and forth between 1.1.2 and 1.1.1 trying to get it to work, with only sucess being in 1.1.1 with oktoprep and any sim 1.1.2U

i am lost right now, and need to get it to work. Why can i sometimes get it to install appsnap and sometimes not? I have done it over 50+ times but im really lost

use *#307#
phone will ring, erase *#307# enter 0

phone will ring again, answer it put on hold then go to contacts

enter any name, on the url type prefs://1F, then turn the wifi, and auto turn off to never

second url type jailbreakme.com

that will get you appinsall screen, phone will boot up wait.. then phone will be jailbroken and screen should show slide to unlock.

then once you inside run anysim all should be good.

if not, then you have to downgrade baseband.

im on 7.6, but when i do the jailbreak thing, the phone never restets itself, just stays in the connect to itunes, im really lost and confused

please follow this

you have to be patience,, sometimes it can take up to more than a minute
for phone to boot up
once you jailbroken run anysim from the installer or the source above i gave you for the instller, run it and wait, should be good.

run appinstall again,, if not then you have to start all over again, something didnt go right. restore 1.1.1 again. If you dont want to do thats fine
sometimes its the server where jailbreak.com is running. turn off your phone and try back after 10 minutes, delete the contact you added and add new one and try again

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone that tried to help me through the problems i had last night
I was up until 4 in the morning and got it working, problems included appsnap site being down, then it was the phone not getting out of the recovery mode,but after a few hours, its running on 1.1.2 jailbroken and unlocked

I just sold an Iphone on ebay and the buyer tells me that the Installer is not opening up. What is the easiest way to get the Installer to work again? I told the buyer to restore the Iphone and activate again but they don't want to go through all those steps since they are not familiar with activating an Iphone and don't want to mess it up.

well, its kinda like hell, for me at least

Probally best if you get the iphone back form him, back it up on your pc, if it lets you, and then restore to 1.1.1. Its easier unless you are at 1.1.2, few more steps and personally not worth it
